In this instance, I think maybe the fact that they're asking, at all, is more telling/alarming/relevant than whatever the answer purportedly is.
Companies aren't motivated to find actual cures diseases that are highly profitable like type 1 diabetes. If they do, I expect it will be like the $3.5 million treatment for hemophilia.
