That poor lettuce was 3 days old

Or three month old cabbage that you can just peel a layer off and it’s good as new.

This is the worst thing about homemade sandwiches. I can't keep my lettuce fresh and crunchy for longer than like two days.

we grow lettuce in the garden every now and then (it's very easy and a winter crop here) and i fucking hate store lettuce now.

Put it in a sealed plastic bag. It will keep crunchy for weeks.

Huh? I swear the more sealed I keep it the faster it turns slimey?

Throw a paper towel to soak up water and change out as needed or make sure it's dry before storing. Water is what accelerates wilting and rotting, I use a salad spinner to dry my lettuce before making a large salad that I'll store for days or a week.
