Totally clueless I must say but I am reading a bit and here is what I want to do:

I want to learn how to fly before even looking into buying a drone. As far as I understand there are several good simulators on Steam and I figured I start there. Very reasonably priced too.

I need a controller. Sounds like a Radiomaster pocket ELRS is the way to go? I am a little fuzzy on if/how this connects to a computer (Mac mini) and if that also later can be used with a (some?) drone?!

Can somebody confirm this for me please?

USB-C on the controller. When you plug it in with EdgeTX for software, controller will ask if you want to use it as an USB HID (this would be for gaming), serial (firmware update / telemetry to pc i believe), or mass storage device (adding files for lua scripts etc)

Oh ok. Thanks. Does the controller then work with a drone too? Or is that just for the computer/simulator?

ELRS is for the Tx (controller) to Rx (drone) protocol. Whatever drone you buy needs to include the ELRS receiver or you need to buy a receiver to add.

You will want to setup a profile that disables the ELRS transmitter when you decide to use for sim, to save battery.
