If you had left out "the smoke blew half the speed" then you might have had an "okay" riddle. However, the inclusion of that statement ruined the riddle because you specified that there was smoke. A riddle leaves out information, however generally a riddle cannot contain false information unless the reader has been informed that part of the riddle is false (like how the one with two doors and two guards states that one of them always lies and one always tells the truth).
