The 'yankification' of British politics continues with Turning Point drawing attention to whatever the hell these people are supposed to be

Call 1-800-LUFT-WAFFE...this time, we are the good guys. The sad part, I could see the fucking losers gaining ground with the MAGAts.

Looks like a militant terrorist organisation to me, should be arresting them

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It looks like that but they seem to be basically just modern Salvation Army copycats, especially from looking at their website

I think we're better focusing on reform UK and the racist marches than a bunch of hyperactive holiness Christians

[–] Lodespawn@aussie.zone 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Turning Point is a youth propaganda machine fuelled by pseudoreligious arseholes. These people demonstrably only care about themselves and how much money they can make. It's spread to the UK is deeply concerning.

I cannot find evidence that this group has anything to do with turning point except for being featured on their Twitter once.

When you start looking at the "leadership" they are all either non-existent online or tied to a number of dodgy evangelical churches, there's no obvious detail of who is funding any of them, it looks like Noone has previously researched it in detail. But the few tied to that McNamara guy looks like authoritarian nutjob dog whistles.

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 2 points 6 days ago

Having a look into them now. It's interesting how one of the images shows the Ulster Banner for Northern Ireland despite it being part of the UK and NcNamara being from Northern Ireland and having a Union Jack.

Interestingly on his Instagram, there is a post promoting a Roman Catholic Church which is uncommon for Northern Irish protestants to do.

He does follow TPUK and that's it and kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel.

I will say though, groups like TPUK could potentially be trying to groom groups like these. Although they have a commitment on their website to be apolitical so I don't think it's much

You cannot find other people online simply because this seems like a small group. Possibly a bit of larp in there, but I think the Canary is literally just building them up to seem like murderous extremists for clicks/fearmongering. I don't find the canary to be a reliable news source anyway.

It's only a militant terrorist organization if it contains leftists or minorities, otherwise it's just sparkling free speech /s

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 1 points 5 days ago

They have minorities and grannies... Look at the picture...

[–] FalseTautology@lemmy.zip 0 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Not for nothing but they don't have free speech in Europe

[–] FalseTautology@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 days ago

I didn't say anything about America, I'm just pointing out that Europe absolutely and demonstrably does not have free speech protections.

Ah, you made the dog whistle connection. That wasn't supposed to happen, you weren't supposed to notice that, it was only for them.

What a cancerous organization… crazy that it is going global.

[–] chosensilence@pawb.social 26 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

that's because of the organizing led by TPAction, which is the fascist political arm of Turning Point USA, which itself can't be political since it is a non-profit. this is somehow legal in our current system lol. you can just branch off an affiliate org and retain control and that can be political because it's different! it's separate! TPUSA is going to spread wherever it is allowed because they are navigating on the fine line of legality and they exploit that shit.

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 0 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Do you have a source on that? I'd like to be proven wrong

[–] chosensilence@pawb.social 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

a source on what, exactly? not being flippant, i assure you. TPAction is a registered organization with TPUSA, and the way our laws work forces TPUSA to remain "non-political," so in order to maintain the image of being non-political they spun off a political arm named Turning Point Action. you can look it up, basically. it's the only way TPUSA can act politically, so any time you are seeing TPUSA organize and move it's through their "TPAction" group. does that make sense?
