9. No link shorteners.
The auto mod will contact you if a link shortener is detected, please delete your post if they are right.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

They sent ships to provide assistance or rescue if necessary, not to actually protect them from violence or abduction. Basically, they only promised to help someone if their ship sinks and the Italians only did that much to calm striking workers. All optics, no substance.
Correct. Those warships immediately turned around and advised the flotilla to follow Israel's demand to go to a different port and let them distribute the aid.

Nah, that makes the fascist apartheid regime sound WAY cooler than they are.
In stark contrast to pirates they have literally no swagger, if not a negative amount that destroys whatever swagger anyone they associate with ever had.
They are more like privateers with a letter of marque. They act a lot like pirates, and to an innocent civilian that happens to encounter them they are more or less indistinguishable. The difference is they are well-supplied by the rich and wealthy and powerful nations of the world, then given carte blanche to do whatever they want and keep whatever they can take in a specific region with the goal of generally causing chaos and mayhem to their supporters' enemies in the region. It wasn't a new concept then, and it certainly hasn't gone away in the modern geopolitical world, it's just always changing costumes and tweaking the formula to keep things fresh.
