An unofficial sub/community everything about Mullvad.

PS: Did you know the word "sub" is a perfectly reasonable name to refer to a community, it has no inherent connection to Reddit, since sub simply means below/under/secundary/inferior, which is pretty reasonable to interpret as "part of [instance]" thus community, hence sub. Thanks for my reading my rant.

Hi all,

I've opted to use another VPN provider due to costs, but I want to use Mullvad's DoH servers to take advantage of their blocklists (and reputation). I think this would make me stand out compared to users of the VPN, but blocking domains would improve my browsing experience and thwarts other non-browser stuff on my devices (OS telemetry and tracking, etc). Is this setting recommended as a matter of privacy/security?

Thanks in advance for any help and discussion.

Yeah it will make you stand out. Why not use on-device filtering though? Host blocklist are lacklustre at best, you can't go without cosmetic filtering now

What would you say is a good on-device filtering solution? I guess this would require locally MITM the TLS stuff does it?

Something like uBO for outside the browser would be nice

For a PC there's not much options, ublock for browsers, hosts-based blocklist for global filtering, maybe pi-hole.

For a smartphone you have rethinkdns, personaldnsfilter and also Firefox with ublock
