In short:

Legal services and affordable housing bodies say the NT, where 50 per cent of the population rents, has the worst tenancy laws in the country.

The territory is one of just two jurisdictions in Australia in which no-grounds evictions are still legal and there are no minimum standards for rental houses.

What's next?

Property specialists say better protections for renters and a bigger supply of social and affordable housing are needed to address the issue.
