Much like the Bible, its place in American culture is to be revered as a symbol, with the actual words on paper not mattering in the slightest.

No, the 2nd Amendment. Clearly. The one where they ignore the first half of the ONLY sentence:
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State,"

Where they only care about the second half:
"the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
