Overview:

Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

150 miles of range. They're still not serious about EVs.

I kinda see their point as my diesel Hilux has taken a beating underneath and I wouldn’t like to drop the full weight of that on a rock via an enlarged battery pack - that said most of these will just remain on the tarmac.

But yeah, 150 miles is weak for something designed primarily for hauling and/or off-road use.

And if you tow anything, it will probably be half that. So, pretty much useless.

That’s so absolutely absurd it makes other EVs look bad by association.

59kWh? In a truck? What were they thinking? It’s not much smaller than the F150 Lightning, which is available with a 145kWh battery, and even with that, towing range is not great.

kWh. kW is a unit for power, kWh is a unit for energy (power of 1 kW delivered constantly for 1 hour). Power ratings for batteries are a thing as well, so best not to confuse them.

Brain fart. Fixed.

150 mile EPA translates to:

150 miles -> less 5% for EPA overestimate = 143 miles

143 miles -> less 20% because you must not charge past 80% = 115 miles effective range

115 miles towing is 60 miles if you’re lucky.

115 miles of range isn’t a truck, it’s a luxury go kart.

On top of that, just like any other vehicle, you absolutely cannot run it to 0 miles, so 100 miles of effective range? GTFO.

Even a 10 year old diesel Hilux is way out of my price range. I don't need to be eyeing an electric pickup for quite a while.
