Spent 3 days finding the right hardware to connect my garage door opener to Home Assistant. Found one via GitHub...out of stock. Found another...only works with older HA versions. Finally got one that worked, but the whole process just felt way more complicated than it needed to be.

Considering building something specifically for open source ecosystems, where projects like Home Assistant could open a marketplace for products with verified compatibility, proper stock info, and real reviews. Before I sink months into this, do you guys also have this problem or am I just bad at Google?

What do you use to find compatible hardware right now?
