Finished Fire Emblem: Three Houses 's DLC story !

I didn't like the story much, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't up to the main game standard, though from my experience, DLC stories are generally like that. Some of the battles also felt needlessly long, but that could just be me.

This unlocks all DLC characters (4 in total) and their classes (again, 4) in main game, though it requires special seal for certification, haven't looked up where to get that from yet.

Finsihed Judgment!

Fun game! The story was pretty interesting, and the gameplay elements and story were different enough from Yakuza games to stand on their own two feet.

The map felts small, not sure why that is, possibly cause there were much less side activities, but I could be wrong about that. Another issue could be we haven't been limited to Kamurocho for whole game since Yakuza 2, IIRC. Not saying this a bad thing, just something I noticed.

My biggest issue with the game is side stories. Pretty much all of them end up with you either following someone, or chasing someone, if not both. Which gets repetitive very quickly. Another issue is that most of the side stories themselves repeat. Many of the side stories have 3 parts. You do a side story, the later you get another side story which is repeat of that one, then later you get another which is a repeat but you get the conclusion.

When nearing the end, after Chapter 10-11, I stopped doing the side stories and just focused on the main story.

Started Cozy Grove. It's a cozy game, and is often mentioned as something like Animal Crossing, though it feels very different.

You go to island to help ghosts move on, except there are a lot more ghosts than originally expected.

The game works in real time (though you can make it perpetual day in setting), and you can only do certain amount of things in a day. I haven't checked the time but I don't think it takes more than 15-30 mins a day. Apparently it takes more than 2 months of daily playing to finish the main story.

Mainly started it cause I won't have to dedicate much time to it, and can just play it slowly at side.

Playing this on Switch 2, cause there are some performance issues on Switch 1, specially as the game progresses.

Also played a bit of Hyrle Warriors: Age of Calamity, but not much, so nothing to say about this.

What about all of you? What have you been playing and/or plan to play?

Finished up LoL’s spin-off, Convergence. I decided to finally start up Battle Chasers Night War after having it sit on my switch home screen for a few years. I like the artwork and the combat has some interesting dynamics, but I feel like I may be past playing turn based RPGs at this point. I will likely see it out to the end.

Still chipping away at Age of Calamity side missions, Control on ps5.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

How did you like Convergence?

I just tried looking up how long I have had Battle Chasers Night War for, and I realised I don't have it. I don't know why I thought it was given away as PS+ monthly game, it's only available with PS+ Extra. It has been on my wishlist for a long time though, should get it soon.

Where are you in Age of Calamity? I am probably half-way through Chapter 5, lots of side content just got unlocked after my last mission so will be busy for a while.

[–] ApollosArrow@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I really enjoyed Convergence. It was easy to 100% the map. I think it was just the correct length, since I was starting to feel it drag a little. It was nothing mind blowing, but it scratched my itch for a time manipulation game (The last one being Katana Zero). I generally like Ekko as a character, so I may be biased a bit (own two statues even though I never played League of Legends).

I’m at the start of chapter 6. I paused for a while to get through all the 41-50 challenges, so yeah those took me a while to get through. It was very repetitive, which is why I did it between other games.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, the game does get repetitive, specially the side missions.

[–] ApollosArrow@lemmy.world 2 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Yep, but I have the need to try and feed my 100% nature. We’ll see if I make it!

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

Hehe, I am also trying to do all of the side missions, not sure yet if I'll actually go for 100% or not.

Good luck!

I’ve been trying to motivate myself to post but school has been kicking my butt. I managed a little session of Octopath Traveler II today, but with zero of the (at least) eight stories complete, I can’t imagine I’ll have that one done in time for Octopath Traveler 0. I’m not even done with the main story in Champions of the Continent!

I did evangelize a game to someone this weekend: “I Was A Teenage Exocolonist”. I’d be interested to hear thoughts from y’all VN fans to hear how you liked it.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

If you want to get Octopath Traveler 0 on launch (and finish Champions of the Continent before that), you should probably pause OT 2 for now.

“I Was A Teenage Exocolonist” is on my wishlist. I am just a VN newbie though and have only played a couple, but we do have many people who like them, with @Phelpssan@lemmy.world being our official head of everything VN. They may have more idea about it.

[–] Phelpssan@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Was not familiar with that one, I usually track VN releases using vndb.org but they have some odd/strict standards on what qualifies as a "VN", so I end up missing a few.

That one looks interesting, I added it to my wishlist.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

You'll probably end up playing it before me, so will look forward to your review.

[–] CaptainBlinky@lemmy.myserv.one 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Just played Where Winds Meet for a few hours.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

How is it? I was very excited about the game until I found out it's free to play. Wanted a normal game which I could play and finish in 10-50 hours.

[–] CaptainBlinky@lemmy.myserv.one 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'm enjoying it so far. Looking forward to seeing how the co-op works. But as it is, it's very similar to a modern asian MMO, but streamlined for the single player experience. No grinding aspects so far, just interesting objectives and things to see. And it looks great.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Yeah, these games start well, but if it's possible to complete the main campaign without too much grinding, I would love to give it a try. Do let me know how long this lasts.

[–] DarthAstrius@slrpnk.net 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Fortnite, Madden, Animal Crossing, and Cyberpunk.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Outlaws finished?

[–] smeg 3 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I'm in the last chapter of Sea of Stars. It's been decent. I like the pixel art, and the combat loops were challenging enough without being a grind. The plot for the first 2/3 of the game was fairly cutesy but bland. I'm basically grabbing the last few unlockable skills and items before going to the final boss, and I doubt I will try the post-finish addon content.

I think next I'm going to try... The Witcher 3. I've tried to start this game multiple times on PC, modding it and everything. I like the books, played the first two games, but these days I have no interest in sitting at my desk (where I work) in my off hours - I like laying on the couch playing my Switch Lite.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

I played the Witcher 3 on Switch and loved every minute of it, though that was without ever watching how the game looks on other consoles or PC, so your mileage may vary.

[–] MisterDeutsch@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

I stalled out on Sea of Stars before the last battle. I know I’m strong enough (the game is well designed on that front), but I delayed because I knew the fight would probably be long. Then the summer came. And went. I hope to go back there one day.

[–] De_Narm@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Guess I'll only go for the DLC if those classes/characters are really interesting, then. Or if it's on sale when I get back to FE:TH.

On my side, more Harvestella.

I've automated my farm and started with some animals, which I ignored up till now. They are quite lenient. They cannot die, even if you stop feeding them. It just decreases their friendship, which reduces the quality of their stuff once you start feeding them again.

On top of that, I've progressed all companion stories. They are quite, but somewhat generic.

Also started Pokemon Legends Arceus just yesterday. We needed a break from Monster Hunter and it's my partners favorite game.

Haven't done much yet, basically just trying to do anything but what the tutorial asks of me. The usual.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Heh, now I am wondering if it is something you'll enjoy and I put you off by my personal preference. 😀

How fun is Harvestella for you? It sound like a fun game, even if it's flawed in some aspects.

Weren't they playing Z-A? Already finished it?

[–] De_Narm@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

It think it's a lot of fun, although I tend to just focus on one thing and then is devolves into a check list. Like doing all side quests, then doing all companion quests, then all dungeons... etc. I just can't bring myself to not do that when everything is available at once.

They finished ZA within less than a week of release, including the 1k trainer battle quest. I really mean it when I say they holed up and did nothing else for several days. Since then it's shiny hunting.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Hehe, it's fun getting holed up like that, though I doubt my kids and wife would let me do that now.

[–] picandocodigo@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Where are you in Age of Calamity? I'm still playing Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment. I haven't advanced as much as I would want (stupid grown up responsibilites), but I'm really enjoying it. I've unlocked a few more characters and parts of the map, but I don't want to spoil anything. So I'll just say it's a lot of fun and the storytelling is very good.

I also played a bit of Wario World on the GameCube. I didn't play this game back in the day, but I recently got a really good copy off of ebay. It's fun, and I feel like the right kind of game that could have an amazing comeback in the Switch era. 3D platformers are fun, but even in 2D, I really enjoyed Wario more in these kind of games. It's fun and I'll be playing it when I'm not playing Hyrule Warriors.

I wish I had more time for videogames!

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

In start of Chapter 5, have done couple of main missions and a few side missions. I think next two main missions both are divine beast missions, at least that is what it looks from the thumbnail.

[–] ModernRisk@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I’m playing on the Steam Deck;

  • After Love EP.
  • Persona 3 Reload (slowly since I don’t really enjoy it).
  • Cult of the lamb.
  • Breath of the wild.
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Nice list of games.

Why are you playing Persona if you aren't enjoying it? Life is too short to spend on bad games.

[–] ModernRisk@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Well, I loved persona 5 Royal and thought I’d love P3R too. I’m 25 hours in and got told around October in game, the game gets better. I’m in July with the game now, so thinking to struggle through it.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Ah, hope it does get better, good luck!

[–] Phelpssan@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Weird (but not bad) week in personal life where I had a lot to think about, so very limited gaming time.

Playing Super Robot Taisen Y!

Still in Chapter 6, only a did a couple of missions.

Playing Nine Sols!

Defeated Fuxi & Nuwa and reached what I think is the “point of no return” for this game. So unless I get stuck in a late-game boss I should finish this one soon. 😊

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Hope things get back to normal in your life (assuming that's what you want too 😀 )

Good luck with the end game!

[–] Phelpssan@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Life won't be back to normal for a while because I decided to take a risk and switch jobs after 20+ years. 😀 But it's the "good" type of trouble.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

Oooh! That's a big risk, I have been at the same job since over a decade so I can understand how it may feel to switch after all that time. Good luck with your job!

[–] picandocodigo@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Risky, but hopefully for the best. Good luck with the new job!
