Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

Israel trying to pass the hospital bombing off as Palestine doing it is utterly disgusting and guarantees Netanyahu a spot in the deepest pit of Hell for all eternity, obviously, but do not forget that

a) the only reason why Westerners will believe it is because they want to believe it - they are not being brainwashed and this is not some masterful propaganda being weaved around us to turn kind-hearted people into monsters,

b) no Westerner opinions matter at all. In most Western countries there is no real anti-Israel option to vote for even if they did realize that Israel was a giant factory for crimes against humanity, and Westerners protesting against things in general almost never achieves anything (tens of millions protested for BLM in 2020 and not only did the situation not change, it got worse), and

c) the people whose opinions do matter (both the people in the region, and the leaders who aren't already Zionist compradors) already know that Israel is full of shit and that they just murdered nearly a thousand civilians in a single bomb attack.

It is despair-inducing to think that the genocidal Zionist entity is so brazenly, so smugly getting away with bullshitting this away into a cloud of confusion, as they release their metaphorical squid ink just like they did with the stupid babies story, but the propaganda and the media narrative that they are creating isn't what matters. It cannot address the fundamental contradictions ripping the country, the region, and the world apart any more than masterfully-applied makeup can fix a stab wound. It can merely obfuscate.

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA daily-ish reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

The Country of the Week is still Palestine! Feel free to chime in with books, essays, longform articles, even stories and anecdotes or rants.

Here is the map of the Ukraine conflict, courtesy of Wikipedia.

The weekly update isn't coming because I'm sick and too focussed on the collapse of the Zionist entity.

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists

Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Resources For Understanding The War

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Telegram Channels

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.

https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine

Almost every Western media outlet.

https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.

https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

The Nobel Peace Prize winning, warmongering old fossil finally kicked the bucket!

Sorry, not Kissinger. It's Martti Ahtisaari, former president of Finland.

Guy got his prize for 30 years of brokering peace, the saddest example when he supported the NATO attacks on Kosovo and took part in the negotiations after. Better yet, he also defended the Iraq War and was an all-in NATO fanboy. When he was criticized for this two facedness, he called the critics Stalinists.

Dude also loved austerity and of course, Israel. All in all, your usual social democrat! Rest in piss, loser!

Rattled U.S. government fears wars could spread

U.S. officials say this confluence of crises poses epic concern and historic danger. Officials tell us that inside the White House, this was the heaviest, most chilling week since President Biden took office just over 1,000 days ago.

Former Defense Secretary Bob Gates — who ran the Pentagon under presidents of both parties, George W. Bush and Barack Obama — tells us America is facing the most crises since World War II ended 78 years ago.

These simultaneous threats are hitting at the very moment the American political system seems — and sometimes is — literally broken. Former top intelligence officials tell us domestic unrest is one of their biggest fears — whether it's triggered by court rulings against former President Trump or protests over war in the Middle East.

I legitimately don't understand what the US is doing. Surely supporting Isreal isn't worth this massive loss of prestige and political power among the Global South? It's not like Israel needs the support. The US could've just stuck to their guns on muh human rights and muh international law and muh status quo borders and things would've been fine. What's got the US so worried that they thought this was the best response?

90 sec vid clip at the link

Some displaced Palestinians who followed the Israeli military’s order to evacuate to southern Gaza are now going back to Gaza City. “We were told that the south is safer,” a displaced northern Gazan said. “But we found that death follows wherever you go.”

Liberals completely forgetting "terrorism comes from oppression" when subject is not about China improving living conditions of uyghurs instead of bombing them with white phosphorus and also when China is successful in their efforts to stop terrorism . Terrorism in your allied country is result of just random luck lol

I really need to stress that the IDF already attacked the hospital three days ago (14th Oct) that injured 4 staff members, two days after the evac order was given on 12th Oct.

The hospital director was interviewed by the NYT. Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, made a statement condemning the attacks on the hospital.

Hosam Naoum, the Anglican primate of the province of Jerusalem and the Middle East that oversees the hospital, declared 17th October "a day of prayer and fasting organized by the 13 Christian denominations in the Holy Land to promote peace and reconciliation." Probably not a coincidence that it was bombed on that exact date.

I'm not nearly as smart as any of you folks in this thread, but could this particular hospital be targeted because those invested in it spoke out, did not evacuate, and defied the IDF?

Egyptian tweeters and activists are circulating the news that the convoy of 20 trucks that will enter from the Rafah crossing within hours contains Mossad and CIA spies who have advanced seismic devices to detect tunnels, and those supervising the entry of this convoy are the United Nations, which in Arabic means America.

Confirmed. Israelis admit 4 of their troops were wounded.

Palestinians say they attacked 2 bulldozers and a tank inside the border fence. On the road near Kissufim heading into Khan Yunis. Not far in by the sounds of it.

RPG ambush. IDF abandoned the vehicles and fled.

chicanery I AM NOT CRAZY! I am not crazy! I know they bombed that hospital! I knew it was a JDAM, it had the exact same sound signature- As if I could ever make such a mistake. Never. Never! I just- I just couldn't prove it! Th-they covered their tracks, they got the feds at Bellingcat to lie for them. You think this is something- You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? They’ve done worse! Sabra and Shatila! Are you telling me that an allied militia just happens to gun civilians down like that? No! They encouraged it! The IDF! They bombed a UN school! And the media ignored it! And they shouldn’t have- I got told they were the most moral army when I was a kid, what was I thinking? They’ll never change. They’ll NEVER change! Ever since the Nakba, always the same! Couldn't keep their bullets in their magazines! But not the IDF! Couldn't be our wholesome 100 IDF! Expelling them all! And their country gets to be recognized by the UN!? What a sick joke!

A revolt is brewing at the State Department over US policy in the Middle East.

This is reported by the Huffington Post.

It is reported that US diplomatic officials are preparing an appeal to their leadership criticizing the position that Washington has taken on the issue of worsening the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The initiators of the appeal consider US policy to be one-sided - in favor of Israel while ignoring the suffering of Palestinian civilians.

Participants in the petition also complain that Secretary of State Blinken and his advisers are not addressing "widespread domestic discontent." According to another State Department official, a rebellion is brewing in the department at all levels.

Alt of the imageTwo pictures. The one above shows an artistic representation of the last Chinese emperor turned communist, Puyi, holding up the little red book, with Mao and throngs of supportive Chinese comrades in the background. To his right seethes a crying wojak version of former general and prime minister of Imperial Japan, Hideki Tojo.

There’s a faux-scientific, “microscopic” amplification of the goings on inside Puyi’s head, which makes up the second picture on the bottom. It shows, in a battle of the emperors, JDPON icon Qin Shi Huangdi throwing a fireball at the head of the younger version of Puyi in a Street Fighter 2 type setting, with various characters watching in the background, such as little monkey Putin and Mr. Potadolph head (a Hitler version of mr. potato head).

— We are witnessing violent bombing in the vicinity of Al-Quds Hospital in Gaza. We hold the international community responsible for any bombing that occurs on the hospital, and we warn that the hospital contains more than 12 thousand displaced people.

[–] thirtymilliondeadfish@hexbear.net 56 points 2 years ago (2 children)

The IDF claims have not been independently verified.

Hagari said "trajectory analysis" showed rockets being fired close to the hospital, and that Israel's investigation was based on "intelligence, operational systems and aerial footage, all of which we cross checked".

Asked how an Islamic Jihad rocket could cause so much death and destruction, the IDF blamed the rocket's fuel.

"Due to the rocket flight it was very, very short because the launch has failed," Rear Admiral Hagari said.

"The existence of propellant made a larger explosion than the warhead itself."

The IDF claims have not been independently verified.
