Just saw trap and it was not bad. The thing about shyamalan is your kinda looking for what makes it weird and this one delivers but I would say its average for his stuff. Did not blow me away but was entertaining enough to be worth the watch.

Godzilla x Kong 3.5/5: Overall pretty enjoyable, the intro conspiracy theory stuff is dumb but that largely drops off after the first half hour and there's a lot of action. I was curious who they'd have to team up to fight and I wasn't disappointed. The hollow earth stuff is goofy but I'm excited to see where it goes

The Monkey 3/5: It's channeling Final Destination but not enough. It tries to walk the line between bonkers cursed monkey kills and trying to connect to your broken family and it really needs to pick a lane. Either one could have been good but together they give you tonal Whiplash

Nobody 2 2.5/5: My 200th movie of the year! It's a John Wick knock off but Odenkirk isn't as funny as he could be. They obviously try to lean into the humor violence in the final act but I don't like that his family is running around the whole time, especially because they insert a surrogate family for him to care about. The villain feels out of place as well

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping 3.5/5: I like all of the Lonely Island movies and this is probably near the bottom of my list. Later they figured out that these don't need to be feature length and that was a big improvement for them. Bin Laden is a super funny song and they get so many celebs to make cameos. It's very nostalgic for me as The Lonely Island was huge for me in school

Good Fortune (2025), a film about an angel switching the lives of a rich guy and a poor guy to give them better perspective of their own lives. It was... unique. Definitely felt like it had a mixed message at times. And I felt like it had a kind of non-ending.

Susie Q (1996), about a girl who died on prom night in 1955, and 40 years later, a teenager moves into her old home and can see and hear her ghost. So he helps her resolve a problem with her still-living parents so she can move on.

My wife loved this film as a kid, so she introduced me to it. It was one of the early films starring Amy Jo Johnson, the actress who played the Pink Power Ranger on Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers (1993). It was very cheesy, definitely a low budget film.

Interesting fact: The film never got a home video release. No one knows who actually owns the rights to the film, so it can't legally be released on DVD/Blu-ray or streaming services. Amy Jo Johnson streams the whole film on her website, if you create a free account. (It's under the toy box link).

My wife and I met Amy Jo Johnson at a convention last weekend and she said it's her hope that someone sends her a copyright strike so she can find out who actually owns the film and can work with them to get it legally released. No one who made the film knows; it was a weird deal where everyone was hired by an outside organization to make the film.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992). This is the original movie Joss Whedon wrote that inspired the TV show a few years later. Having watched some of the TV show previously, it was interesting to see the film it was based on. I only watched a few episodes of the show growing up, and my wife has never seen it, so we plan to binge it one day soon.

...And we're still binging House, M.D. (2004) for the second time through. We're about a third of the way through season 2 now. This is our comfort show, when we want to watch something but can't decide what.

I found Good Fortune to be largely inert. You can tell that Aziz knows what he should be writing about for our current political climate but has been a little too removed from it to have anything worthwhile to say

Upgrade (2018)

Cybernetic implants, near future intrigue. (Some heavy violence scenes)

A good peek into robotics, AI, and implant possibilities of the future.

Upgrade rips. I think the camera work does a lot of heavy lifting for the action and selling the cybernetic upgrades. If you want something similar Hardcore Henry is good and shot in first person for more unique camera work

I enjoyed this one! It was well done for the relatively low budget

Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story

I've seen the Superman films but I didn't realise how much he brought to the role. Also the non-stop lifestyle before and then not being afraid of the limelight after his accident was amazing to see.
