From the AP:

Greene, in a more than 10-minute video posted online, explained her decision and said she’s “always been despised in Washington, D.C., and just never fit in.”

That's because you're a complete shithead.

In her video Friday, she underscored her longtime loyalty to Trump except on a few issues, and said it was “unfair and wrong” that he attacked her for disagreeing.

“Loyalty should be a two-way street and we should be able to vote our conscience and represent our district’s interest, because our job title is literally ‘representative,’” she said.

Lol. Trump loyal? That's hilarious.

Oh man, I just cannot believe Trump would throw someone to the wolves the second they’re not blindly faithful to him!

I know. Who could have seen this coming?

Yes, but if the scorpion stings me we will both drown!

no, the scorpion is being lazy. it can swim too

I earnestly think she was seriously threatened. She was angling to take over the Republican party after Trump dies; a strategy more informed by the time she spent with Kevin McCarthy. However, Trump isn't just a president or party leader anymore, but a dictator who says opponents should be put to death and is ok with the label of fascism. He's always punished disloyalty, but now he can use any tactic without fear of reprisal.

She is probably going to be replaced by someone even worse. I hope not, but I won't be surprised.

Unfortunately she gave the GOP time to search for a sycophant candidate they can shovel in there.

[–] hitmyspot@aussie.zone 3 points 3 days ago

They won't find someone so earnest. So, they might have less success. The sycophant won't be as high profile and therefornpesa powerful.

But but MSM was super in love with her for talking about how broken Congress is and how they are all bought off by lobbying.

We not gonna talk about the threats she must have received?

[–] crunchy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 3 days ago

We did. There was a post yesterday about how the left has hated her for years, but only decided to hire security after getting on MAGA's bad side for a couple days.

Probably by other Republicans. Wouldn't be surprised if Trump threatened her with threats of her inside trading or another mortgage fraud since they seem to love that.

I hope she is terrified. This is the shit of humanity she chose to associate with.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

She's not, this is politics. She is paving way for her future as a head GOP frontperson after the Epstein files turn Trump into a lame duck as we go into mid-terms.

You mean threats by the GOP that they would support her run for Senate if she promises she can harness and contain Trump's unhinged base if he dies or becomes a lame duck after the Epstein file release? Yah she's probably rolling in "threats" right now.

Do not underestimate the politics happening here. The GOP desperately needs someone like MTG. The only other huge republican figure who could have had the social sway might have been someone like Charlie Kirk, they were grooming him for major political plans. They now have to start sifting through the next tier down for someone who can charm the rats and play the pipe.

The chances that she will become president eventually are so not-zero that we should all be very concerned.
