It took some time to break the tie, but Guybrush won eventually!

Ellie from The Last of Us part 2. Say what you will about the story (I liked it, but I get the criticism), Ellie is pretty universally loved.

Larry; Larry Laffer!

[–] DosDude@retrolemmy.com 8 points 15 hours ago

Ben from Full Throttle

Rufus from Deponia. He is very egocentric but with a huge heart at the same time. Not sure if this is too niche but a huge shoutout to deponia to all who loved sierra adventures back in the day.

Excuse me, but Gabriel Knight is the perfect fit for this category.

S&M is a great suggestion

Gratuitous acts of senseless violence are my forte!

Looks to me like we've got a marginally volatile hostage situation here, Max.

Oohh! Does this mean we get to kick some puffy, white mad scientist butt?

Geralt of Rivia?

[–] Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world 4 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Larry Laffer.

I wouldn't say he is a bad guy per se, but I think it's fair to say he is supposed to be a bit sleazy.

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

I think Larry is probably an "Opinions Divided" one

[–] Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world 1 points 13 hours ago

Ha! Honestly, that's probably a better fit even if I personally disagree. :)

Maybe Rincewind from Discworld. He isn't exactly a good or bad person but just acts in his own interest.

Would Manny Calavera from Grim Fandango fit here?

[–] Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

That would be my pick if I didn't vote for Leisure Suite Larry.

I think Guybrush Threepwood would be a perfect fit for morally grey and loved by fans.

There's no rule that he can't be voted more than once

[–] Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world 3 points 15 hours ago

That's kinda boring though.

[–] kewwwi@lemmy.world 1 points 16 hours ago

I was just thinking this, considering he'll happily bury people alive

[–] Whelks_chance@lemmy.world 3 points 16 hours ago

Indiana Jones? Actually most scumm games have you do some pretty messed up stuff at some point in the game.

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 13 hours ago

The Purple Tentacle.

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 5 points 19 hours ago

Lemmings. They don little suicide vests at the click of a button, how much more morally gray do you get?

Oh good. Those dogs were only sleeping after all.

[–] anticonnor@lemmy.world 3 points 19 hours ago

Is Mordin Solus from Mass Effect 2 morally gray or horrible?

[–] leftzero@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 18 hours ago (3 children)

“Good person”

Wants to be a pirate

I'm sorry, what?

[–] GottaHaveFaith@fedia.io 4 points 11 hours ago

You can just say you've never played Monkey Island, it's not a problem ;D

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 13 hours ago

Compared to the rest of the world at the Golden Age of Piracy, pirates were actually often on the better side.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 5 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago)

Luffy in One Piece also wants to be a pirate, but seems to have no idea what pirates actually do. In Monkey Island, the worst thing a pirate might do is insult you. They fight with wit; the swords are just for aesthetics.

If you haven't played them, I highly recommend it. At least the originals. It's like playing a 90s cartoon. Like all the Lucasarts classics.

He is trying to be gray, but failing at it. He is good.

Maybe some of the other witchers? Vesemir? They are quite a bit more 'me and mine'.
