Images and videos taken in 2020, a year after he died in jail, show the late sex offender’s home

House Democrats released photos and videos from Jeffrey Epstein’s private Caribbean island on Wednesday, offering a rare glimpse into a secretive place where Epstein is alleged to have trafficked young girls.

The new images and videos show Epstein’s home, including bedrooms, a telephone, what appears to be an office or library, and a chalkboard on which the words “fin”, “intellectual”, “deception” and “power” are written. Several photos show a room with a dentist chair and masks hanging on the wall. The New York Times reported that Epstein’s last girlfriend was a dentist who shared an office with one of his shell companies. The videos appear to be a walk-through of the property.

Those creepy faces.

Also, nightstands in front of a door?

[–] fizzle@quokk.au 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Maybe the blocked doors are just window shutters ? who knows.

Those masks sure are creepy.

Edit:

Actually from the dropbox folder that @pelespirit@sh.itjust.works shared there's this photo:

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/e7n5g4wz0cjngv9u9qys2/AHNOf8vcSNtejTpIcQGaICs?dl=0&e=2&preview=IMG_5373S.pdf&rlkey=c8fds6c4a8t6zwoiglx4c7kt3&st=16dpmuw0

The pitch of the roof and the position of the doors makes it look like the outside of the room with the night stands in-front of the doors. It looks like they could be used as a kind of pavillion during outdoor events, like a place to serve snacks and drinks.

I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions about the steel bars blocking those doors from the outside. You can see them horizontally across the two doors on the left, and there's one propped against the wall next to the door on the right.

Honestly, I think if they had rooms in which to detain people against their will it wouldn't be like this, but IDK.

  1. These photos were taken a year after Epstein had been arrested, so the island was not in use at the time.

  2. The islands (he had two) are both located in the US Virgin Islands, which are highly susceptible to hurricanes.

  3. That crossbar looks very much like the crossbar in this video about installing hurricane shutters.

I honestly think you have come to the wrong conclusion.

You seem to have misunderstood me.

It was his private island, don't really need to detain people in a room if you have/control the only means off of the island.

Epstein liked to commission artwork of the people he blackmailed (Clinton, see Dropsite News)…I wonder who the face sculptures are…

Epstein (at the time) owned Great Saint James Island and Little Saint James Island

https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=15%2F18.30707%2F-64.82054

According to Wikipedia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Saint_James

In March 2022, Little St. James and the neighboring Great St. James were listed at $125 million. A lawyer for Epstein's estate stated that the money obtained from the sale would be used to settle a number of lawsuits. Bespoke Real Estate, the agency jointly overseeing the sale, stated that further information on the listing was only available to prospective buyers.[21][22]

In May 2023, billionaire Stephen Deckoff, under his firm SD Investments, announced the acquisition of the Great St. James and Little St. James islands for $60 million.[23][24]

I want to know the redacted names on that phone. Until those names are visible, they haven’t really released anything

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

It’s worse than I imagined.

[–] lemmylump@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That's redacted phone name sure would fit Trump or Don really easily.

[–] fizzle@quokk.au 2 points 1 day ago

Yeah but surely... surely not.
