The nuke is the easy part. Building the giant robot suit launch platforms to be piloted by school children will take much longer.

Short answer is yes. Trump has proven that any alliance is useless. So every country needs the ultimate deterrent. That means nuclear and a reliable delivery system. Thats the only way Russia, the us, China or other aggressors can be held at bay. Ukraine and Venezuela probably both regretting decisions that removed their deterrent.

The problem with governments is that they were designed with the merely dishonest, incompetent or greedy in-mind. They, and society, were not to designed to mitigate psycho-pathy and/or delusion - the parts that manage that at all kinda just fell-into place for other reasons, and don't work beyond the local level.

Meanwhile, the psycho-paths in-office and their psycho-pathic/socio-pathic handlers, want you to believe your psycho-pathic neighbor is the problem. You know, the one you merely suspect and label due to factors that probably amount to tribalism and what you each have been told to think?

As someone who admittedly isn't super familiar with Japan's military, and only vaguely of their politics, this sounds obvious with the current state of the world. China seems to be rapidly arming, and they've seen how unreliable US support is in the lack of support for Ukraine and the increasingly unstable current government.

If anything, I'm really shocked more nations aren't re-arming.

If you read up on it, a lot of nations are starting to re-arm or at least talk more about it. It kinda feels like the lead up to something bad as everybody is starting to get jittery.
