Maybe this is just me, but in the short time I have been here, I have changed my avatar at least five times. I've only been here four days. I am like this on any social media platform. Then the bio, what the hell do you write? They always say something like create an honest description. But if I'm honest, nobody will dare associate with me, just like real life. Both my avatars and any form of bio are far from the real me, I mean some of it is representative of me. If you read between the lines, but mostly it's all rubbish. I hate the avatar and bio, and who ever invented them all those years ago, should be shot.

Am I the only one?

This isn't Tinder, you can skip the bio and the picture if you want!

Unless there's like a rule in your instance I guess. In which case, disregard that

i just use them for fun things. i've never "written a short description of myself", just put something that makes you giggle

I didn't either. I tried to add one a few days ago, and it didn't work. I was going to add this or this. Maybe it's a size thing?

I tried to put that first one in mine and it came up as a playable video.

I managed to put one in my bio after following the instructions by @Zeus@lemm.ee.

they're actually png's, but either should work - it's just markdown, so use ![alt text](image url). i use them as links as well, so they're [![alt text](image url)](link url), which is a bit verbose but it works

they're hosted off-site though, which may be why they work

they're not super official. they're easy to make and edit, designed by mozilla, usable almost everywhere, and the libpng still refuse to accept them as a real format; favouring .mng which works nowhere (even ffx dropped support), and is much larger. more (somewhat outdated) info here
