I tried lemon soju for the first time. Tastes like Salvital. My kinda jam.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 1 points 7 minutes ago

Ooh thanks for the tip.

Damn, it's time to get ready for work already. Hopefully it will be a cruisy shift and I don't have to work too hard. So if you guys could do your best not to set things on fire, crash your cars or get your cat stuck up a tree that would be great.

I’ve been gardening all day and now cannot move from couch, so there’ll be no risk of any of that over here

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 1 points 25 minutes ago

That sounds good, stuck on couch is usually an ambulance job. Unless you are really heavy and need some burly firefighters to hoist you up I won't need to do anything.

Will try my hardest. Hopefully the rest of society does too!

Just do your best, that's all we can ask for. But if you do decide to do something try to at least make it interesting. Get stuck it the chimney pretending to be Santa or something.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 1 points 17 minutes ago (1 children)

Chimneys are for rich people.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 1 points 4 minutes ago

So the Santa story is just your cover for trying to rob the place and steal all the expensive Christmas presents? Clever.

We've made it to Albury alright. The trip up was good but it has been a big day for the boys and they're tired silly

I heard there was a problem with the water around there recently - maybe check before drinking it

Whoops. ...we did not plan for many of these. But we did them nonetheless

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 2 hours ago

I've gotten a handle on doing all the Christmas stuff.

I think all the presents have been bought, just have to organise and wrap

all the food is ready to be prepped, Turkey and chicken pieces are in the freezer ready for Saturday

tomorrow's food is easy, just burgers and trifle , 2 x shortbread is made, I will bring half the panettone I made , only because it's so big I won't be able to finish it.

house is super organised and 95% clean already πŸ‘

Got some shopping done, then had a nap. Now I wonder whether to have beer or Prosecco

Time to work! Looks like everyone's out doing their food shop today. Also the husbands who don't know what to get their wives.

[–] Alamutjones@aussie.zone 6 points 3 hours ago

Watching the market melt down this morning was glorious. My viewpoint from my apartment overlooks the fish market...it was like someone had kicked an ant's nest

[–] calhoon2005@aussie.zone 6 points 4 hours ago

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 8 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I got the call centre job lol! Starting mid January.

Gonna be so flush with my a-bit-higher-than-minimum-wage wage, way more than Centrelink lol. I'll actually be able to pay rent without going broke for half a month every month

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 3 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

That's excellent news just before Christmas

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 2 points 1 hour ago

It's such a relief! I joked with the recruiter about this being a lovely Christmas gift πŸ˜‚

I'm deciding on a coffee or the start of a 3 day bender.

All very great suggestions but I'm going with a vodka, lemon, lime and bitters.

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 6 points 4 hours ago

Boozy affogato? I had a sneaky beer at lunch. But driving to see fam later so keeping a lid on it.

No viking rampages today, I went on a poisonous rampage in the garden instead. All the naughty grass that has snuck its way through the cardboard in the garden beds has now been sprayed. The worst bindii infested patch of naturestrip has had selective poison put on it, and the worst of the broadleaf weeds there have been sprayed too.

I was happy to see the climbing bean seeds I thought had failed have now sprouted. Some of the tomato plants didn't cope with the hot days and have died, but I have a few more seedlings that are still ok to replace them with and all the cherry tomatoes look to have made it. It doesn't look like any of the cucumber seeds have managed to sprout though, so I don't think I'm getting any of those this year.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 2 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Got any tomatillos? ours have wild seeded all over the place. Ranging from small seedlings peeking out their heads at the front to a fuckin' 2 foot bush out the back already punching out calyxes

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 2 points 2 hours ago

The main things self seeding here are bindii and mallow.

I've never actually grown or even used tomatillos. In my last place I did have wild seeded cherry tomatoes, plus a few things like parsnips, parsley, lettuce and bok choy. By the time I have enough plants built up to do that here I'll probably be moving again, hopefully to my own place where I can keep the garden long term and get the benefit from that sort of thing.

Yay finished my only day of work this week 3 hours early 🍺🍺🍺
