Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Friendly reminder: when commenting about a news event, especially something that just happened, please provide a source of some kind. While ideally this would be on nitter or archived, any source is preferable to none at all given.

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA daily-ish reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.
More telegram channels here for those interested.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

The Country of the Week is still Palestine, though we will switch next week to a new country.

Here is the map of the Ukraine conflict, courtesy of Wikipedia.

The weekly (biweekly?) update is here.

Links and Stuff

The bulletins site is down.

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists

Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Add to the above list if you can.

Resources For Understanding The War

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Telegram Channels

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.

https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine

Almost every Western media outlet.

https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.

https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

Last week's discussion post.

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi has told Israel’s Eli Cohen that Beijing is “deeply saddened” by the large number of civilian deaths in the escalating Israel-Hamas war.

Yi, acknowledged that every country had a right to self-defence, but “they should abide by international humanitarian law and protect the safety of civilians,” China’s state media reported on Tuesday.

Yi is due to visit the United States later this week.

The emergency "unity" government is uhhh not working already

Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid calls out the Netanyahu Government saying the unity government not functioning, still ‘in shock’ from Hamas assault.

Opposition Leader Yair Lapid attacked the unity government for what he said was inadequate delivery of services to citizens, 20 days after Israel was shocked into war with Hamas when the terror group launched a devastating attack.

Fighting reported close to Al-Quds hospital

We've been trying to establish the extent of Israeli military activity around Al-Quds hospital, the medical facility from where Israeli forces have ordered an evacuation.

The Palestinian Red Crescent posted on X that there have been "raids 50 meters away from the hospital" since this morning. It is unclear what kind of raids these were.

Marwan Jilani, the group’s director general, told BBC News that, until around 17:40 local time (15:40 GMT), there was “very intense bombardment around the hospital” and that one rocket had fallen “only metres away”, damaging windows and forcing people sheltering in one section of the building to move to another.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (the umbrella organisation of the Palestinian Red Crescent) said in a statement that health workers in the hospital report ‘violent attacks and shelling very close to the hospital’.

Mr Jilani also said that his organisation had been told by the Israeli government via UN officials that the order to evacuate the hospital had been rescinded, but that the message came at a time when the bombing around the hospital “was still ongoing”.

“[The UN] is trying to clarify, and they’re trying to make sure that, if truly there is an order to rescind, to communicate it to the military that this hospital is protected.”

Fighting on Israel-Lebanon border intensifying

Today the intensity, frequency and velocity of the attacks has been unprecedented if we compare it to the past few days.

Rockets were launched towards Israeli settlements … where we saw several impacts in the city of Kiryat Shimot. Also, it was very significant that rockets were launched also towards Rosh Pina, which is around 14 kilometers (8.7 miles) from the border.

Israel has been hitting targets that were almost 14-15 kilometers (8.7-9.3 miles inside Lebanon). We are seeing the the depth of the front getting bigger and bigger. And this is a warning that the situation is escalating … and is starting to get out of control.

Martyr Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades spokesman Abu Jamal:

The invading force is suffering heavy losses among its soldiers. This explains their state of hysteria by aiming to take human lives, using insane bombing and excessive firepower to reduce their army’s losses.

The resistance has confidence and experience in fighting asymmetric wars. They fight with intelligence, high morale, and combat equipment. They are the sons of this land and are not strangers to it, and it will not let them down. They know the field in their country well.

Attempts to advance by ground were made from several axes, and incendiary bombs and explosive devices were waiting for them to burn their armored vehicles. The legendary engagement with the invading forces took place in high morale and with an amazing level of precision and professionalism.

According to admissions from Hebrew websites, the battle was fierce and the tanks burned like toy dolls. The defeat of the enemy was at the beginning of the battle, and will inevitably be at its end. Victory is coming and will put the entire region at a new turning point.

The heroic resistance of Gaza, with its people, its steadfastness, and its resistance, writes a glorious history for all of Palestine, the nation, and the peoples of the region, and teaches the world an unforgettable lesson in freedom, pride, and national dignity.
