I'd actually like to know where a song sits on something like danceable - ponderous continuum to sometimes choose a pole depending on whether I'm sitting down or vacuuming

I mean, as much as I like Aphex's little exchange with Stockhausen (iirc), wherein he claimed that his music is danceable as opposed to Stockhausen's highbrow stuff, I don't really think that majority of idm is dance music. Likewise, most punk doesn't need that clarification except when it's explicitly dance-punk, like some of Sexy Sushi.
I typically choose if I want to dance only after hearing the music initially (gotta say, the vacuum cleaner figures nowhere in that). And also, who knew that one of my favorite artists Mutaforia Lili is fit for house chores.
I hate genre markings and will make my own music with hookers and blackjack if you force me to think in terms of them
Interesting. Because I'm completely useless with lyrics-based music like mainstream pop, rap, country, ‘singer-songwriter’ and such. But I won't be able to tell you that without listing every artist and song whose music I don't grok. Unless I just list the genres, of course.
Only 2 genres: Thrash and trash

Yesss! Knowing the genre would make all the difference ... or some sort of description
