as someone else said: now his time travel experiment is worthless, cause there’s a very good reason no one from the future wanted to go party with him

[–] Orygin@sh.itjust.works 39 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Was he implicated in nefarious shit?
Afaik Epstein had a thing for physics and other physicists are in the files because he liked the subject.

[–] red_bull_of_juarez@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, there's all kinds of names in there, but not in a bad context.

[–] Orygin@sh.itjust.works 8 points 5 days ago

There's even the manual for bash since it was probably installed somewhere on his machine/servers

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 15 points 6 days ago

Lawrence Krauss is one who is definitely not innocent based on his disgusting messages.

[–] bonenode@piefed.social 42 points 6 days ago (1 children)

How would he even go about removing it. Its not like "the files" are a stack of random paper pages in a safe somewhere.

[–] Maiq@piefed.social 44 points 6 days ago (2 children)

He could go back in time and give his caretaker a note to give to him a week before they met that said "And STAY AWAY from that Epstein... He's a bad egg!".

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 17 points 6 days ago (3 children)

But he’s dead not a time traveler.

[–] mkwt@lemmy.world 17 points 6 days ago

Which theory explains why he has not accomplished the above.

[–] TheFogan@programming.dev 12 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I think the point is he was attempting to reach out to time travelers... or skeptically making fun of the idea with the time travelers party that no one showed up for.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 22 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

If you were a time traveller, would you want to go back in time to hang out with someone mentioned in the Epstein files?

This all proves that time travellers are real, because they didn't go to his party knowing about his Epstein links.

[–] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Are you saying Maiq is a Liar?

[–] Maiq@piefed.social 2 points 5 days ago

This one might be?

[–] how_we_burned@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

He could go back in time and give his caretaker a note to give to him a week before they met that said "And STAY AWAY from that Epstein... He's a bad egg!".

Or hawking is a piece of shit who was full well aware of what was going on, partook and thus has expanded no effort to go back in time to stop himself from hanging out with child raping scumbags.

I'm so bitterly disappointed with so many people. Especially Hawking.

[–] Azrael@reddthat.com 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

There is no evidence that h Hawking actually participated in wrongdoing related to Epstein. Guilt by association has no evidential basis.

[–] how_we_burned@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Shit by the criteria of the Dino conference people hawking would be banned from there conferences forever simply due to his association with Epstein.

Ultimately Hawking spent a lot of time with Epstein, on the island.

He wasn't a saint either. He had his own flaws and had left his wife for one of his nurses (literally learnt that from a Epstein email) in 1994-95.

Notwithstanding the huge amount of material being held by the DoJ we really don't know who is guilty, or what they knew. Shit Clinton was attacked in court for being on the island and apparently being aware of a multi person rape on one of the women (that even the victim admitted he wasn't party to).

How you could be on this island, with so many young girls and women and powerful men and not put 2 and 2 together is quite a big claim to make.

[–] Azrael@reddthat.com 27 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Does anybody actually believe that Stephen Hawking was involved in the illegal activities?

[–] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 19 points 6 days ago (2 children)

I believe that he was probably a sexual person in some form and he probably had money so maybe he might have paid for sex. But I have no idea really.

[–] Azrael@reddthat.com 20 points 5 days ago

Maybe in his earlier life. He was married more than once and had three children.

His name does appear in the Epstein files, but he was never actually accused of anything related to Epstein. To say that Hawking was a pedophile is speculation at best.

[–] chaogomu@lemmy.world 24 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Another factor here is that Epstein was obsessed with physics and being friends with physicists.

While Epstein was always a monster. He could hide it around certain people.

But from everything I've read, the monster always comes out. And we all know what being Epstein's friend eventually entails.

[–] Azrael@reddthat.com 15 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (2 children)

That's pure speculation. Your argument is what is referred to as "guilt by association". Your argument has no basis. It wouldn't hold up in court.

[–] Bullerfar@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

These people don't care. I got downvoted to hell by saying the same thing. Apparently factual evidence isn't the norm in here.

[–] Azrael@reddthat.com 4 points 5 days ago

You're probably right. A story is more important than facts to them.

[–] Tonava@sopuli.xyz 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Also does anyone actually have info about in what context Hawking is mentioned in the files? That makes all the difference here, I'd imagine

[–] Azrael@reddthat.com 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Yes. There was a scientific conference held on Epstein's island in 2006. Hawking was one of the scientists who attended. There is no evidence that Hawking even knew what was going on regarding the sex trafficking.

[–] BobDole4Prez@lemmy.world 23 points 6 days ago

Maybe no one showed up to his time travel party cuz everyone knew he was a creep.

[–] harrison_fnord@reddthat.com 11 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Didn't he also cheat on his wife with his caretaker?

[–] xx3rawr@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 days ago

And his movie just framed it as something like "needing" to travelling away with the nurse.

[–] BigBananaDealer@lemmy.world 17 points 6 days ago

he did, but that is now a seperate timeline that we are not living in

[–] invertedspear@lemmy.zip 15 points 6 days ago

Doesn’t that just mean he never figured it out? Doesn’t mean it’s impossible for everyone forever.

[–] Jankatarch@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Wait I thought it was someone else sharing the same name?

[–] psud@aussie.zone 1 points 1 day ago

Same person, I don't know how people here don't get that a quantum physicist might not keep up with news about people, don't we all know people on the spectrum? He gets invitations to Epstein's parties because Epstein liked hanging out with physicists, people are suspicious because he continued attending those parties after news was out about how bad Epstein was.

I'd be surprised if I had heard that a mathematician read the news, and if they did that they read about people in the news

[–] Allero@lemmy.today 7 points 4 days ago

Nah, the dude really was quite shitty on several personal accounts

[–] Cattail@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago

Well hawking died before time travel was invented. Now time travelers probably visited hawking while he was on Epstien Island

[–] dream_weasel@sh.itjust.works 6 points 5 days ago

He traveled forward to ADD his name to give additional notoriety to the files like a Chad.

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 10 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Is it though? There's the whole causality argument, where if time travel does get invented in the future, then you can only travel back to that moment

[–] Rooster326@programming.dev 2 points 5 days ago

How would you know you've invented time travel then?

You're basically describing a real-time machine.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Edit: Joke already got made and I shoulda checked.

[–] Heikki2@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago

What if time travelers didn't want to travel back bc he was in the files?

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago

Sphinx has zero logic to their words

[–] homes@piefed.world 7 points 6 days ago

Irony: he authored those very papers, so his name is all over them

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

Maybe that's why the time travellers didn't show? I know I wouldn't knowing what I know now.

[–] diffaldo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 6 days ago

That is hard truth.

[–] Diddlydee@feddit.uk 3 points 6 days ago

Stymied by being dead.
