Just need a rough estimate. I have a 10yr old laptop. I want to turn it into a Server. So it will be running 24x7.

How long before it stops working?

There's so many more factors that go into that it's kind of hard to answer without more information. What's the model of laptop, what are you going to be running on it, do you expect there to be a lot of traffic/computation done on it? Also any answer is going to be at best an educated guess since it's impossible to know exactly when a computer is going to catastrophically fail.

HP, 10yrs old laptop. i3 5th gen. Ram: 12 Running Debian. Minimum load. Just needs to run

It is running 8hrs a day for the last 5yrs as my primary laptop

Chickenf662 said it best. Too many factors. Hdd typically dies first, replace it with ssd if not already done. Make sure you clear out the vents/fans to keep temps low, heat kills everything.

Do you have an exact model of the laptop? Knowing the exact model helps with estimating since there's factors outside of the general specs for how long a computer will last.
