So many times I've spent too much time poring over logs and trying useless and unnecessarily complicated debugging only to want to slap myself in the face because I forgot to open a port on the firewall.

Just use nmap

I don't even work tech support but as the comp sci student at my retail job I've been designated as the one to go to when anything goes wrong.

Yeah I don't use DHCP for shit, I want to know exactly where my stuff is at all times.

(We don't use wireless at all in our corporate Network only on a guest Network)
