MacBook (the 12” one) to butterfly.

The 2012 MacBook Pros were the best. Excellent keyboard, upgradable ram and hard drive, could replace optical drive with a second hard drive, anti glare screen option, plenty of ports. After that they went downhill and now they’re disposable laptops.

2017 MacBook Pro. I just replaced mine with a new MacBook and couldn’t be happier. My 2017’s backlight went out in 2020 and had to get it fixed, the battery went to complete garbage about 4 years after purchase, random keys would get stuck (notably the Z and 7), and the laptop most recently would make random popping and exploding noises if the memory pressure was too high. Total dump of a laptop.

MacBooks were at their lowest when compared to windows PCs. There was no reason to get one if you weren't in the apple ecosystem already.

Plus the 2017 models had year old intel chips in them that weren't even powerful on release date.

I would say 2020. I made the mistake of getting an Intel over the M1. It seemed good to start but it seems very aged already and gets hot. My wife’s M2 Air is a lot better.

I have the 2020 Intel too. Always thought it was my charger or I’m just bad at managing my applications. But it’s still sufficient honestly just can’t do anything intense

I agree. Got an intel pro just before the M1 came out. Gets hot on even basic use.

I could have had the M1 instead. I think back to that decision and shake my head. I was worried the M1 might not be compatible with my software.
