Perhaps she should've thought about that when she was cheerleading the crowd of neocons who are perpetrating all of this.

Ok. Yes. BUT.

You're against supporting Israel because you're antisemitic.

I'm against supporting Israel because I'm anti-imperialist and anti-war.

We are DEFINITELY not the same.

I don't even think it's (predominantly) her antisemitism that's causing this, because she definitely also (probably moreso) hates Muslims; it's her backwater isolationist mentality that the US should never help anybody but ourselves (totally ignoring how much helping others disproportionately helps us). I wrote a very large portion of Greene's article on Wikipedia in 2021, and one of the biggest throughlines for her support for Donald Trump in 2020 was isolationism ("America First").

It's also why Greene was outspoken against the US' invasion of Venezuela and kidnapping of Maduro. An ardent anti-interventionalist is bound to occasionally be correct when the one intervening is an impulsive, reckless, bigoted, selfish imperialist.

If you look at Tucker's rhetoric, its very similar.

Greene became politically engaged in 2016 when Trump's isolationist, white supremacist campaign message resonated with her (two years later in 2018, she moderated a white supremacist conspiracy group on Facebook whose acronym was "FAP"; not relevant, just bringing it up); there's not a chance in hell her rhetoric wasn't also inspired by Carlson's around that time (Trump's messaging surely was).

Fuck off Marjorie. You don't get to be the "Jewish space lasers" lady and a critic of the GOP. Talking shit now doesn't make you look good, you just look willing to abandon your position when you think it'll score you points. Republicans truly know how to find the weakest, stupidest, least genuine humans among us.

It’s a white women of MAGA riff. She was given a role within their patriarchal shitshow. She tried to move out of it (wanted a spot in the Senate instead). Was told no. Spoke out against them in response. Now censured by maga.

I’m not defending her. But that is the pattern.

Yes but did Charlie consider that Trump would need a really bigly distraction from people talking about how he raped kids?

[–] theacharnian@lemmy.ca 23 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Timothy Snyder has talked about how anti-Semitism is going to be the weapon of choice for one faction of Trump's court as they position themselves for the post trump transition. JD Vance will pin all of Trump's crazy shit on Miller and then try to pin Miller on Rubio. Don't be surprised if "Israel is responsible for our imperial decline" becomes the post-MAGA "stab in the back theory" of the 2030s... That's why these fuckers LOATHE progressive anti-Zionist Jews like JVP.

Man. The fact that the three republican front runners for 2028 are all out-flanking Democrats from the left. Tucker, MTG, Owens.

I'll take "shit we said would happen, but couldn't get people to listen" for $200, Alec.

A friendly reminder that just because a fascist and a Nazi has a disdain for Israel, they're still NOT allies. They're still a fascist/Nazi, they're not to be trusted and/or praised. The left, be they Libertarian Socialists, Marxist-Leninists, Maoists or Anarchists, support the Palestinian cause as it mirrors so many oppressors vs. oppressed dynamics throughout history. Muslims feel obligated to support their fellow Muslims in despair.

Fascists/Nazis oppose Israel out of their irrational hatred of Jews. There's no separation of the State of Israel and the global Jewish community; they're one and the same to them. They erroneously believe that they and Palestinian Arabs share a common enemy when, in fact, Palestine's struggle is against colonists oppression. Hamas and Hezbollah may spout antisemitic views but this an extension of their radical Islamism. If Fascists/Nazi had their way, Jews, Arabs and all other non-whites would share the gas chambers. They boast about bogus but widely believed antisemitic conspiracies: Rothschilds, George Soros, ZOG, Cultural Marxism, Great Replacement, so on and so forth. The Rothschilds and Soros are, indeed, pieces of shits but, once again, fascists/Nazis hyperfixate on their Jewishness.

The media will portray the global solidarity movement as in league with fascists and Nazis. We must make clear that fascists and Nazis are not welcomed. That is why it's important that we, under no circumstance whatsoever, make alliances with fascists/Nazis.

My biggest fear for 2028 is that we'll face a choice between MTG (or someone in the Nick Fuentes mold) running on an explicitly anti-Israel, white Christian nationalist platform, and AOC running primarily on domestic issues with little foreign policy emphasis and that a vocal contingent on the left will choose the former. Not out of any coherent ideology, but because opposition to Israel has become such an overriding fixation that they'd willingly overlook everything that candidate represents: the rollback of rights for gay, Black, Latino, transgender, immigrant, Muslim, and Jewish communities alike.

I don't want to have or need health insurance... I want my taxes to fund Universal Healthcare, not wars.

I want my Gov to service my needs, and my neighbors needs, not to function as an entity that taxes the many and profits the already rich few.

[–] MJKee9@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago

Chuck Shumer is offended by your comment. But he's willing to upvote it so long as you promise to be cool with Israel.

[–] HugeNerd@lemmy.ca 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Uh what? In the US both sides are eager and chuffed to fight wars for the return of their imaginary Avengers superhero.

WTH has gotten into her. Did someone hit her with a "reasonable" stick or something?

[–] frog_brawler@lemmy.world 18 points 5 days ago (1 children)

She's changing her views a bit, but it took her family being personally impacted by the GOP healthcare changes and for Trump to condemn her questioning them surrounding said healthcare changes. She's making attempts to try to redeem herself I think. If she continues publicly expressing views like this, I'll commend her for the bravery it takes in admitting, "I was wrong," so long as all of this shit doesn't evolve into a political campaign.

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, can't trust her as far as I can throw her and she looks pretty heavy.

One must remember that this woman is an actual anti-semite and truly believes that the destruction of Israel will begin the apocalypse that will send all the good little Christians to heaven instantaneously.

There’s a lot of fracturing and internecine warfare in MAGA land. You can see some of this in Alex Jones struggling to figure out whether he’s still cool with Bannon or not.

There’s always been a split between the Nazi wing and the Christian Nationalists who support Israel because of their apocalyptic fantasies. You’ve also got the ones who only care about abortion, and the ones with Q and adjacent conspiracy theories. It’s an uneasy alliance.

MTG is a Q type. Anti semitism is part of it, but it’s more about the insane conspiracy theory world she lives in. She’s not being “reasonable” she just thinks Trump is on the evil Jewish laser team.

She's smelling the distrust around Trump (and his Epstein connection) and is now trying to distance herself from the cesspit that she built - maga. I would not trust this person. Remember what she was during 2020-2023. Do not forget.

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Oh, I don't intend to support her in any way, I was just wondering if she had a reverse Fedderman or something.

She is an antisemite, so she is against Israel because she is against the Jews. Other people are against Israel because of their governments genocidal actions. They are not the same.

I'd bet real money that her and all the other "conscientious MAGA objectors" would still vote Trump if they had another chance, though.

You're coming a looooong long way, MTG. Maybe it's time to study and read socialist theory, perhaps? https://redsails.org/

[–] Mk23simp@lemmy.blahaj.zone 20 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (3 children)

Those things she mentioned all seem pretty aligned to left vs right to me. Welcome to the left, MTG.

Not that I expect her to be in any way consistent about supporting those values. I just think she'd have an aneurism from being welcomed to the left. XD

And whose fault is that Marj? Why don't you go back to sucking the teet of big Nazi again, it's all your mouth is good for.

[–] squidie@feddit.org 8 points 6 days ago (1 children)

And no more interest in the Epstein files.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago (2 children)

How many known Epstein associates have been arrested to date?

I keep hearing "Release the Files!" I've yet to see any New York or California prosecutors going after anyone named. Hell, they're still subsidizing the businesses and fetting many of the individuals involved.

[–] Railcar8095@lemmy.world 8 points 6 days ago (3 children)

I'm not a lawyer, but unless they have reasonable evidence the crimes occurred on their states, the state prosecutors can't do anything.

The DOJ has that evidence, they have been ordered to release it and they refuse. Prosecutors can't ask for underacted files "just in case"

That's why people are demanding the files, so people can be arrested.

I'm honestly surprised how backwards you got it.

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 22 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (3 children)

She's still a liar and fraud but she has a functional weathervane that changes with the winds of public opinion. Her problem with israel isn't the genocide of palestinians, its the jews she hates. She's the 'jewish space laser' lady.

I don't like the feeling of agreeing with anything this vile creature says.

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 15 points 6 days ago

Imma lay it out like it was for me. Very few people are wholly evil. You are the culmination of all your acts. Few people are wholly evil. She has two things for her that are good: she didn't dismiss the Epstein evidence & she is against this war.

Everything else about her is wretched. So yes, she is a vile creature that happens to share two good values with the rest of humanity.

[–] Monstrosity@lemmy.today 11 points 6 days ago (1 children)

This is pure, cynical political maneuvering. What's upsetting is I (and other voters) hear this from despicable White Supremacists scum like Greene rather than Democratic Party leaders.

It feels like a very smart rebrand but someone who sells racism and hatred doesnt get to double back and try economic populism instead just cause they think it might be a more winning strategy.

She can get bent.
