With Apple's notoriously exploitive RAM upgrade pricing, I don't believe for a second that they're not still making a profit with that pricing.

Edit:

512GB was $4,000 when it was available.

The most ram I’ve ever had in any computer is 16gb, but I just make documents and do minor photo editing. Would YouTubers and video editors be the kind of folk to make use of 512gb? Seems like an insane number.
