I hate the cover 2 defense. It only works if you have a dominant pass rush, which we don't have.

I'm tired of the opposing offenses picking up 3rd and 7 because the Bears db's are six yards off the ball giving free release. The qb has all kinds of time to throw slants and out patterns easily picking up 1st downs.

The coaches are supposed to mold a gameplan with talent being put in the best position to succeed. If players can't execute the plays, you adjust to something else. Yet we've seen the last four head coaches be stubborn about that shit.

Some thoughts

This will be my shortest thoughts

  • I felt like as I was watching the first quarter the coaching staff and Poles got together and was like 'how dare the Packers be worse than us. We have to suck more. Let's show them".

  • Anyone thinking that the two wins anyone earned anything - no. This staff sucks. Terribly. I am pretty sure Poles isn't going anywhere.

  • Bagent in another year or two can be a premier backup. And that's good.

-Bears suck.

Some say Justin Fields is still mouthing the play calls to this day.

Looks like a 3-4 year rebuild

[–] DivClassLg@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The fact that there is even a question if Baget is better than Fields says everything you need to know about Fields and the amount of money he is going to ask for.

Thats what this season was all about

Hard pass

[–] madrefookaire@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Not saying we would have won but would have been a very different game if the refs hadn’t fucked us and blown the whistle on the first play - up 7-0

There are a lot of things to like about Tyson Bagent. And.

He isn't ready to be a starting NFL QB.

This is much to do about nothing, we got beat… but the officiating was bad. But what I’m more upset about it Eberflus’s apathetic approach to bad calls. Throw a clipboard, put some fingers in some refs faces, see red. This is a violent sport, fire is needed. I mean it’s like 27th on list of things he sucks at, but acting like you care in a fiery manner is among the easiest boxes to check.

On the bright side, if tank commander JF1 is back next week there truly is no reason to watch, we can all get 3 hours of our lives back

[–] bipolarcyclops@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I somehow managed to get stay awake until the end of the third quarter and not miss anything.

Ultimately, the Bears are a train wreck. No single player, draft pick, free agent, new head coach, QB, coaching staff, or anything is going to fix this mess. This team is going to be a doormat for the 2023 season.

[–] DreadHeadAnt@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Are y’all still doing that weird Claypool hating stuff? The shitty blaming him for everything that this fan base did has made me a fan of his. Him pointing out the obvious that the coaching staff isn’t good somehow made him the bad guy and I don’t understand why.

[–] Falt_ssb@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bro he was a bum lol

[–] Dunkypete@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It was the him not putting effort into playing that made people hate him? Wtf are you talking about?

[–] stayoutofwatertown@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Claypool was an active detractor if you watched the games. Couldn’t high point. His next contested catch will be his first. Zero effort on blocking

[–] DreadHeadAnt@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He’s not here anymore why is the team still bad?

[–] Anachronstic@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ryan Poles and Velus Jones should be tied together and launched into the sun

[–] SnokeRenVader@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Thoughts on the game last night: it could have been worse.

Just sloppy football. Never had this one pinned up as a W but the score could have been a lot closer.

[–] edgefigaro@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

The bears are what we thought they were.

I had high hopes for Jones, but he just can not perform on the field. Between that drop and the other mistakes, he needs to be cut.

The worst part of this game was the defense allowed a QB with a hurt finger to carve them up and complete his first 15 passes.

Forgot to mention the tackling was awful as well.

[–] ACAB_FOR_CUTIE_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I was reading comments on Twitter and people were blaming Bagent for that saying it was way underthrown causing Velus to slow down and slip. That's insane. It was a tad underthrown but an acceptable ball that VJJ should've come down with.

[–] parks381@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

There's a reason he barely made the roster and only gets around 3 snaps a game on offense. He's a kick returner and a guy you can get the ball on very simple concepts in the backfield. They should never target him down field.

[–] Standard_Employee751@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I remember how everyone was cheering cause Poles moved on from walker cause it showed ‘he didn’t fall for sunk cost’

Meanwhile Velus is getting 2 thousand chances

[–] Standard_Employee751@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Fuck ryan poles for making this shit show even worse.

[–] ChangingChance@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Also I don't think fields should come back this week. His hands are on the shorter side plus compromised grip strength, slow to throw and saints d is a recipe for disaster

[–] AmericanGumbo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I want Penix from Washington

[–] Dependent_Yesterday9@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Why can't we snap the ball correctly?

Why can't we break down and make tackles?

Fundamentals aren't getting done and haven't improved amongst the vast majority of the players. Those are just two examples that are so basic that I have to blame the coaches, all of them.

We sort of have a thing about wanting to hire the next "big brain" in the NFL. We get these "smart" guys in that think by their brilliance alone, they will win games. The talent and skill of the players you have decide what the game plan is.

The top 5 of the draft is stacked. MHJ would be insane snag, but then you got Olu or Bowers outside of Williams and Maye.

Not disappointed with the position we are in.

[–] kidno@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I feel every game this year, at different points in the broadcast, the announcers will say a combination of ... "this bears team isn't really built for [offense|defense]".

You kinda need to be going for at least one of those things.

[–] pleasedontbingme@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s a nice way of saying our roster sucks

[–] MONSTERofMD@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This team does not show up ready to play and quits early. No way you can bring back Eberflus. The worst part is Cover 2 is the kind of "bend don't break" defense that doesn't require top talent to be successful. Yet the Bears have invested tremendously into the defense and it is sooo bad. If Eberflus goes, might as well fire Poles and give the new regime a clean slate. The problem becomes, who would want to take over this shitshow and even then would ownership know a good coach if one was right in front of their face.

[–] pleasedontbingme@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (4 children)

I would be absolutely embarrassed if I actually believed (and commented) an undrafted D2 QB was going to come in and be a franchise QB after watching him play one week and throwing for 160 yards.

Fellas, give these people some grace. They are having a tough Monday.

I want to extend Jaylon Johnson and not hear any brain dead takes thinking that Drake Maye is similar to Trubisky just because of where he went to college

[–] uptozero@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] 92roll13@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Going through the rest of the schedule, this team has 2 maybe 3 wins left in them if things bounce the right way. Likely looking at a net 1 game improvement vs last year. Just pathetic. Heads need to roll

[–] el_tigre427@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

If you listen to people who know ball, the issues with this team have less to do with talent and more to do with coaching. Week in and week out we see penalties, missed assignments, and general mistakes everywhere on the field. Fans fall into this trap thinking a QB can mask all those issues. The ones who can are few and far between. It sucks but nothing is going to change and Poles’ biggest mistake was this coaching staff. They’ve made his picks look like terrible choices (some may have been), the money he spent this off-season look like wasted dollars, and failed to develop a quarterback with immense promise (you can dislike JF all you want but you can’t dismiss the fact he is the most talented prospect at the position we’ve had possibly ever). I’ve been here many times, boys. It truly sucks.

If Bagent were a first round rookie, we would have no trouble taking the positives from his performance. He showed some good stuff. But in the end, he has more to prove because nobody really expects him to be a starter. I think we'll see him start again someday, but any QB controversy this year (if it ever existed) is well and truly dead.
