Switch resolution to 4k SDR (instead of leaving it as Dolby vision). And then there’s frame rate matching and something else to turn on. I just got mine three days ago and almost every YouTube video I watched has this same tip
Apple
A place for Apple news, rumors, and discussions.
This may be going on my Christmas list. What size storage did you purchase ?
Using your AirPods with it. It has made watching tv in the bedroom after my wife falls asleep a dream (pun intended). I don’t have to fight the volume up and down to avoid disturbing her while still hearing the spoken parts. Game changer.
Can I connect multiple airpods to an Apple tv 4k? Or just one?
Multiple
Up to two AirPods
The way it just recognizes your AirPods as easily as your phone does is awesome. And that I can click the AirPods to play/pause, adjust the tv volume from the AirPods. Just an awesome touch.
At first, I didn’t care that much for it. We had the latest Fire TV device (well, still do) and after we got it we converted to HomeKit. Now, I love it. The simplicity, lack of ads…I would like a couple more buttons for Netflix and Prime and maybe a customizable one or two. And would like the buttons backlit. Overall, it’s the most used one now and I love the doorbell video showing up on the TV when it is on.
Congrats! I love mine! Use to be a Roku guy and this is VASTLY superior!
its amazing. only thing that's bothering me is this weird thing with spotify where the playback ALWAYS pauses at ALWAYS around the same time towards the end of a song. right around where a notification for the next song shows up.
5 months in, still no solution 🫠🫠🫠
I haven’t faced anything like that till now.
I just got one 4 days ago and I actually can't believe how I've gone this long without it. best money I've spent, I ordered them for the rest of the house within the first hour!
Hahah
The best Apple product they have ever made!I would say calibrate the picture with your iPhone, and also calibrate the audio.youll see Apple tech on a new level and it actually helps the experience!
I am unable to control my tv using Apple TV remote (through hdmi) it is a Sony Bravia
Do software upgrade for the box then select hdmi under volume control I had same issue
I had to use a more modern hdmi cable to get this feature to work for me
Nice!!!! Congratulations:)
You won’t regret it, it smokes any set top box or built in tv apps.
And it’s not even close.
I just wish it would support Kodi. I’d make the switch in a heartbeat
Not any. I run last gen AppleTV and Nvidia ShieldTV alongside. They are comparable devices. Apple surely has downsides like no side loaded apps, no ad blocking, audio pass through is sketchy to say the least. Both devices lack HDMI 2.1 support therefore no 4K 120FPS option. Which is rather embarrassing considering Apple is 3 years newer tech.
I remember returning the Nvidia ShieldTV because of frame stutter. The match frame rate didn't exist or work for me. There is only one device on the market that does this without flaws, AppleTV.
No other functionality matters for me if the picture quality sucks because of stutters. It's a horrible viewing experience for me. I tried multiple devices before AppleTV and they all had problems with that one way or another and I eventually landed in AppleTV being the superior streaming device.
the 2017 Apple TV out Performs the Garbage Nvidia Shield, Can't i paid 250$ for one and not a apple TV, I stopped using it 6 Months of how Buggy it got, The ads on the home screen, the remote that came with it never worked and apps always crashed... I could go on... Etherway its the worst streaming device out there like the roku
Enjoy! Please try the app Infuse next to enjoy movies from your own collections
Can I add movies from my iPhone to infuse directly? Instead of creating a NAS server with my router
https://www.reddit.com/r/appletv/comments/vuthg3/how_to_play_ipadiphone_files_on_the_apple_tv_with/
Above Reddit thread had the same question.
Guess you can use Airplay from your iPhone to the Apple TV but I guess this is not the most optimal situation (also quality wise).
Also someone mentioned to host a FTP server on your phone so that you can connect from the Apple TV .. Guess very cumbersome because the FTP app has to have access to the files on the phone.
Infuse shines the most (at least for me) when using a NAS (wired) with SMB shares hosting full UHD movies.
or plex
Nice! I love mine. I take it on road trips if I’m going for more than a couple weeks
Setup color balance in settings. It does the most true colors for your display possible. It looks incredible
It will ruin you.
You won’t be able to use any other tv OS. It is amazingly good.
Cuz i got a IPTV, I got a fire stick, But i still love my apple tv lol
Enjoy! Makes every other streaming box feel like a child's toy.
This is the epitome of a low effort post
Not gonna lie, this is such a useless post.
not gonna lie, your comment is such a waste of time
Hahah bros so right ✅
You won’t regret this amazing thing.
I’ve had so many of these from various companies and I was skeptical about buying this one.
Because I have other Apple products I went for it and it’s the best one I’ve used. Being able to use my phone for the keyboard, how quick everything is and using Siri is amazing.
It’s so fast that once you start using it you realize any other platform crippled the tv experience. My kids are now even telling Siri what they want to watch 😒 they are 2 & 3 😂😂
Yea but Im kinda upset with the fact that most famous ott applications in India aren’t supported with Siri like Netflix, Disney+ , Prime Video, etcetc
Tips: many of us have discovered that the YouTubeTV app doesn’t work well in Dolby 5.1. For that app specifically, switch the device to Stereo audio setting. Oh yeah, consider doing this wireless audio sync when you start using it, it takes like one minute https://www.idownloadblog.com/2020/10/15/set-up-wireless-audio-sync-apple-tv/
Congrats. Every other type of TV available in the market is now ruined for you. 👍🏽
Hahah
It’s the best for listening to podcasts if you’re into that and of course, Apple TV+ shows.
nice now pair two apple homepods for that awesome dolby atmos home theater system
Nice! I love this version. The best part is since they used a beast of a chip it will be useable for years and years! I’m seriously considering picking up a second one since I gave my one of roommates my Gen 1 version for their room, and I miss having one in my bedroom.
