Showerthoughts
A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:
- Both “200” and “160” are 2 minutes in microwave math
- When you’re a kid, you don’t realize you’re also watching your mom and dad grow up.
- More dreams have been destroyed by alarm clocks than anything else
Rules
- All posts must be showerthoughts
- The entire showerthought must be in the title
- No politics
- If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
- A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
- Posts must be original/unique
- Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS
If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
Fuck
I hate bots, but I think I hate even MORE than bots is the new "FAAAAAKE" which is "THIS IS AI". Like.... I'm getting to the point where I care less that something is AI than I do seeing all the "THIS IS AIIIIII" whiny bullshit. Like who cares? Downvote and shut the fuck up. lol
…which I realize is a little contradictory because I also appreciate when people point out spambots so I can report them and downvote them to help keep things clean. heh.
But as I get older, my tolerance for the rampant mob misinformation keeps shrinking. I find it irritating. Get off my fucking lawn! :)

That's exactly how AI wants you to feel. It's all going according to plan muhaa ha ha Haaaaaa!
BOT ALERT, SOMEONE CALL THE BOT POLICE 🚨🚨🚨

We've got you partially surrounded!
That is what a 🤖 would post.
Cloudflare says I am human, so I must be a human, right? 🤔
The other day i wanted to play some game on steam with a friend. We were on voice chat and we couldn't get the multiplayer to work. So i had to boot up windows because of that shitty xbox app. I had to solve a captcha and i fucking didn't get it. I was losing my mind and we had to solve the fucking thing together. I'm either really dumb or a bot.
There's a third possibility.
You could be both. :P
I feel like you may possibly be a group of clones. Maybe it's just because your name really stands out, but I see you a lot.
If you are human, why do you have an animal avatar?
turns to my FBI colleagues
"we got 'em!"
Are... Humans not animals? 🤔
Bake'em away, toys
Oh no, my cover's blown!

You’re not wrong. Bots often deflect by accusing others, and people copy that behavior, so it spreads.
The result is a loop where both bots and humans casually call each other bots, making the accusation basically meaningless most of the time.
That sounds like something a not would say.
I asked ChatGPT to be much more concise and eliminate bullet points and em dashes. That was the exact result.
I've never seen a bot accuse others of being a bot. I need to witness this now.
I know it’s older, but here’s how they fought in the analog age.

I'm full of bones. I must be a human person.
One new thing that might contribute to it is that some people are using ChatGPT to write even their comments on different social media platforms (and not just, idk, formal letters and uni essays like most people) and ofc that gives big bot vibes. So there probably will be more false positives as these technologies become increasingly ubiquitous (and as people forget how to structure and verbalize simple trains of thought 🙃).
People also accuse others of writing their posts using LLMs, if they use big words and write a post longer than three sentences.
Take a look at my post hostory, i love writing essays that are normally very technically oriented. I think the occasional typo is the only reason i havent been accused of being a bot tbh
Nah, I think it's just a low effort argument that can't really be rebutted.
