need new battery

[–] iPhone_3G@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You should get a new battery. It’s quite easy to replace it on iPhone 3G/3GS. Also, for further questions it’s better to ask in r/LegacyJailbreak

how in the frick does it have the ios 7 and above apple logo

[–] ContributionOwn220@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It’s a low quality image in a dark room. It’s the old Apple logo

Would help if 3G towers were in service.

I’m not sure where you live but in North America the majority of 3G towers are no longer operational.

But that still doesn’t explain why the phone doesn’t turn on completely and keeps fading out quickly or won’t hold a charge

For what? He never said anything about “water” damage or getting it wet

I have seen DankPods (Youtuber that does a lot of content on older iPods and their clones) use a FireWire cable with the old 30-pin apple cable to "jumpstart" the older ones.

If you have a 30-pin to firewire laying around, try it out maybe?

[–] Robertbnyc@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You just need to replace the battery and that’s it

[–] swan989@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Had something similar with my 4S. It needed a. Es battery and had to restore it through iTunes. Now is working pretty well. Using it docked as iPod.

[–] Nico4x4@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Try a DFU Restore if you don’t care about the data that’s on it. Disclaimers, this will delete all data on the device.

Have you tried powering on with it still being plugged in?

[–] SrPappaGoose@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Funny I came across this post, I just bought a 30 pin charging cable for an iPod I’m gonna fix and said might as well see if my old 3GS will turn on. Same thing happened, turned on when I connected it and now completely dead. New battery it is 👍🏾
