Two boring middle-aged dudes talking football in between plays on a couch for 3 hours isn't entertaining.

[–] Annual-Sympathy-4934@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

IM sure it has nothing to do with the state of the primetime games in the NFL this year. I love the manningcast, especially over aikmans weird commentary this year, but ther was basically only two good games all year...,

[–] forevermacklin@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They need to book Bill Burr forever

[–] email253200@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Well the main cast is on broadcast TV now in addition to ESPN. Less and less people even have ESPN2 or cable for that matter. And they aren’t even on every week. This first year was gold but now they are mostly a talk show. Waaaaay better than the LeBron BS though.

[–] Reddit-Simulator@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Anyone remember Conan's Clueless Gamer segment? It was great when it was 2 guys with chemistry talking about playing the video game. Then they decided to bring in celebrities to "improve" the segment and it ended up killing it. The same thing is happening with the Manningcast.

[–] Raven-19x@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Having guests with little to no interest in football just promoting their stuff is not helping. It feels like a late night talk show.

[–] Pickle_Lollipop@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The back and forth inside joke banter is jarring after a while. Just talk game give more insight. Chill on the guests as well.

[–] Legndarystig@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Thats because they are competing with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman...who are actually pretty good at casting.

[–] gnusm@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

What they should do is make it an audio only secondary audio choice for the main channel. English language, Spanish language, and Mannning bro talk.

There is no need to devote a second channel for it, we don’t need to see the Mannings, and we definitely don’t need a talk show format for guests to plug things.

[–] george_costanza1234@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The ManningCast isn’t even about football anymore, atleast when the guests are on

It’s literally not even worth watching if you care at all about the game

[–] Internecine-@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Also doesn’t help that you’ve had some really shitty teams/matchups on MNF

I mean the Giants were there and we only put up 3 points that Monday night, who the hell wants to watch that

[–] timshel_life@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Have 2 guests, either a celebrity fan of one of the teams or a known former player. One each half. First few minutes of the second and middle/later of the 3rd. Cut the promotion crap. Leave the rest of the time for the two to banter with each other while watching the game.

[–] Elegant_Spot_3486@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Eli sucks. Some of the guests are good football talks but most are a waste of time. I’d rather them and a 3rd guest (who could add football value) every week were in the same room just watching the game.

[–] grehgunner@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I just wanna see two dudes who know the game on a ridiculous level just root their hearts out for the offense at all times… and Eli to say the most hilarious shit that I’m 100% convinced he doesn’t mean as a joke lol

[–] TheSundaeSlide@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I don't care for the guests. I want to hear Peyton and Eli talk football, and it's too full of fluff. I don't think I've watched an entire ManningCast since the first season.

[–] TheCarroll11@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s so much better when it’s just the two of them, or the guest is someone knowledgeable about football AND interested in the game. When they bring in random actors who barely know what a forward pass is, then it gets cringe.

[–] degen4Iyf@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I really don’t enjoy their commentary. It’s like I’m Listening to two people on/off watching the game. They don’t really comment on the game and will Casually talk about something not related. Hard to follow along and be focused on the game.

I like their style of comedy outside of this tho

[–] mbasi@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Novelty wore off. Plus Troy and Joe are pretty damn good

[–] agency95@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I watched my first one this weekend during the first half of the game. It was super cringe. The hand signal audible bit went on wayyyy too long and Arnold couldn’t have cared less about the game.

[–] SaggyBallz99@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I know we European fans are not taken all that seriously but there is a significant market here and, even though I watch the NFL every week with a strong commitment and little fucks about how much of a zombie I am on mondays, tuning into MNF is simply impossible for us. Would love to watch the ManningCast tho

[–] MikeDatTiger@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It's hard to tune in regularly when the show takes weeks off so you never know what weeks Manningcast is on.

[–] LstNvrFound@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Manning cast blows I’m watching the game to watch the game, it’s almost as bad as going to a Super Bowl party where no one’s watching the game (bill burr reference)

[–] InTupacWeTrust@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

in other news, peyton manning just co-hosted the CMAs with Luke Bryan last night

[–] buc_nasty_69@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Classic case of not understanding the audience. Why would football fans want to listen to celebs shill whatever they're currently selling while MNF is on lol. They need to keep it about the game if they don't want people changing the channel.

[–] SCARVIASOUTHJER@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s the worst thing ever. Can’t take it. I don’t know how it lasted one season.

[–] kamehamequads@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I heard it was great and tuned in for about 5 minutes. It wasn’t very entertaining

[–] magnet598@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Football has generally been bad this year

[–] evil_iceburgh@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The guests need to either be very funny and know football or just know football. They don’t need to be players as long as they’re fans of the game who know what’s going on. Otherwise the show has become unwatchable during the guest segments where people are just pushing a product

[–] GreezyGrandDad@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That show is for a certain viewer

[–] suture224@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The ManningCast is basically a live stream. Maybe the NFL should stop trying to make it so interesting and just let the Manning Brothers just make commentary.

If you want to put in a guest, either put in an expert on the game or a complete idiot who will ask questions and prompt crazy reactions from the brothers.

[–] IH8DwnvoteComplainrs@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I guess this is a surprise to absolutely nobody but ESPN? They fucked this project up so bad.

[–] wawahero@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

While part of this is due to what theyve done with Manningcast, I gotta add that the NFL schedule isn't doing them many favors. Most of the games they've had have been boring, blowouts, or close matches between kinda bad teams. I bet they have to be asking why the league isn't flexing some of these hype 1pm est matches.

[–] Designer_Head_1024@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It's either just the brothers or them and a current or retired football player. No more boring celebrity's

[–] poopdaddy2@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’m sure their schedules make it incredibly hard to do this, but I think they would benefit greatly from being in the same room together. And as someone else said, limit the guests and try to get people with at least a medium amount of football knowledge.

[–] BiggsFaleur@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

But it's still so fucking funny watching Peyton get worked up when teams mess up 2 minute drills

[–] jomns@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Why does anyone want to listen/watch talking heads when there's a game on?

[–] Allcross9@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I still like the Manningcast, but the best parts of the broadcast are when they don't have a guest or have an actual current/former player that care about the game going on.

[–] Jkevhill@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Watched the last show , totally boring guys saying stupid shit that they think is funny .

[–] BonesawMT@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Show needs more former Coaches so Peyton has somebody to rant to about timeout usage.

[–] Critical-Adhole@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

ManningCast sucks

There is no fucking way I am going to watch a game where 30% of the screen are the manning brothers

[–] Away_Chair1588@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No more celebrity cameos please. Players/coaches are fine as long as they’re engaged with the game and not talking about what they had for dinner.

[–] ATLfinra@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah I’ve forgotten about it and stopped watching myself and I was all in year 1 and part of last season

[–] Competitive_Papaya_8@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If it was just the 2 of them then I'd be more inclined to watch. All the guests are what ruin it for me.

[–] Alexcox95@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’d watch it if I wasn’t working every Monday they’re on and I’m off when they aren’t on

[–] porkpiepickles@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It's about as good an idea as watching an entire game in "Andy's Room" on DisneyPus (eww!)

[–] c_o__l___i____n@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

My problem is the guests and I feel like it’d work a lot better if they were in the same room. I have no problem with celebrity guests but please put in some that actually want to watch the game. Like maybe 2 guests are fans of the teams and have them them tell stories of how they became fans. Like (for example) get Tim Robinson and Guy Fieri who are Lions and Raiders fans respectively.

[–] dytele@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Whenever I see Peyton or Eli on my TV screen I change the channel.

[–] Dangerous_Ice17@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I watched them a few weeks ago and they were so lifeless and had zero energy. It sucked.

[–] freedomispopular08@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bunch of curmudgeons in here. The ManningCast is absolutely hilarious and the non-football guests and awkward format just add to the absurdity of it all. I just think it's dumb that it doesn't get simulcast on ESPN+. I'll be very disappointed if it ever goes away.

[–] BeefistPrime@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I would love a show that had a lot of really detailed and insightful analysis from former players as the game played out live.

I have no interest in former players trying to be late night talk show hosts.
