For me the battery life has been much better than previous versions. At end of the day i usually get 40 now its 50 in series 9

[–] Veriliann@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

my S9 has actually improved in battery. i end the day with an extra 5-10% now. really happy with this update.

[–] cvirminsul@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Apple Watch SE. I was excited about the update but battery life is even worse than before.

[–] ThatGuyUpNorth2020@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s shocking.

Charged my AWU (OG) during update, 25 hours ago, and after sleep tracking and a workout it’s down to 71%.

Oh, wait.

Nope. Not had battery issues since 10 DB 2.

Sorry.

Can someone provide some tips for an idiot like me that actually doesn’t know the best ways to keep battery life solid?

100% AT 6:27AM 88% AT 12:39PM

[–] swaggerdon6000@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That's normal after an Update. Wait a few days to adjust.

[–] RebelliousPervert@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Usually i get 30- 40% after wearing it all day and a run by 6pm but after the update i was surprised its at 10%

[–] peaceful_war71@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Your watch is reindexing , give it time

[–] serpix@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

What in the actual fuck does a watch need to index? This is a rhetorical question.

[–] Alarming_Sock_7612@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Chill the fook down and come back after a week bro. Not even a few hours and already the ranting started. Wait for atleast 3-5 days genius.

[–] sm00thArsenal@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I updated over 36 hours ago. I have had Apple Watches for over 6 years, and it never takes this long to settle down, hell most point releases don't require any time to settle down - don't just take my word for it, feel free to check all the other 10.1.1 threads where people had immediate significant improvements in their battery life.

[–] ICANTSPECK@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

SE 2 here. No battery issues whatsoever with any of the 10 updates.

But you’re using a S9…

[–] Veriliann@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

software can be buggy on any hardware you dingus

[–] CaptainCAAAVEMAAAAAN@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

After updating I did a force reboot while my watch was on the charger. My batter is currently at 61% and I last charged yesterday afternoon at 12PM. Next time you charge try doing a force reboot and see if that helps.

[–] TheGreatAndinotron@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (7 children)

Removing third party apps has helped in the previous update. This is definitely not “normal” after an update no matter what someone tried to claim.

[–] kamilo87@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

And I don’t have any third party apps.

Series 8, new (like, week old). Before - around 45% left after 16h day, now 77% left after 9h

[–] Fine-Entertainer-507@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Mine got a lot better

[–] shamblack19@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Uh I don’t know what’s going on. My series 9 has a huge battery life jump after the update. It used to hit 28-30% after 24 hours, but now it’s at 55%. I finished the day with 72% battery remaining in the evening (6am-7pm)

[–] pelirodri@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I just came here to post about this. I was reaching nights with 40%+ battery life before the update; yesterday, I had ~7%, and today it’s draining uncharacteristically quickly as well. Kind of ironic that the update supposed to fix battery life is hurting it so noticeably, but yeah. And the whole indexing argument seems so dumb, lol. It’s literally a patch release; WTF would there be to index? And for this long? Even if there hypothetically were, it should do it while charging, for what it’s worth, and obviously not while wearing it. Additionally, not even watchOS 10.1 had any effect on battery life.

Yesterday morning I charged it to 97% (to install 10.1.1).

I wear it since (during night too) and it's 66% atm.

It's been 28 hours since.

[–] Imperterritus0907@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

A friend of mine’s SE completely refuses to charge after the update… so I guess that’s “worse” battery life..

Massively. Got Apple to do a diagnostics, forgot I installed beta 🙈

[–] Tardyninja10@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

on 10.1 i did a restore from my most recent back up (also 10.1) battery issue was fixed after that

[–] FewAd6601@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It takes a few days for the software to get situated. People need to remember this. Also focusing on the battery throughout day doesn’t do any good. User experiences will vary.

[–] Veriliann@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

no it does not lol. it’s a watch. it takes maybe a day maximum for everything to install and settle

[–] Weak-Jello7530@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Not me. Y’all stay safe though.

[–] Saltwater_Heart@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Did you turn you watch off and back on? Sometimes that fixes it. I haven’t had a battery problem after an update in years (but to be fair, I didn’t even attempt to do the previous update after seeing the battery issues everyone had). No issues on my end with this update

[–] thisworldisunfair@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

But it's still indexing after the update /s

Can some create a sub for battery posts. Or can the mods filter these to mega thread?

[–] DeXteRrrr1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Mine is definitely a lot better then before.

My S5's battery worked just fine before WatchOS10, and it's been terrible even after 10.1.1.

I deeply regret updating to WOS10.

I’ve been getting some seriously strange battery life since the update, S5-44mm. Before the update to 10 I was getting 15 hours on an active day, 24 hours if I wasn’t wearing it, but since the update to 10 I’ve been getting less than 8 hours between charges on non active days and seeing weird dips in charge level in the middle of the day.

Apple told me to send the watch in for a battery replacement and I did, they waved the fee because they are aware the update has somehow damaged a bunch of watches and I proved it with all my diagnostic history, I make sure to do a diagnostic before each update and keep the logs just in case I need them.

I’m waiting for the replacement watch to come in.

[–] beanie_0@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Wow! I never really had an issue with 10.1. Maybe a touch more battery drain or because I was aware of it 🤷🏻‍♂️ but 10.1.1 it’s fine for me. Looks like Apple fucked up again. I hate that the software quality seems to be taking a decline over the past few years.

[–] Brucey59Fifty@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] FuxieDK@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

10.1.1 have improved battery on my AW, however, 17.1.1 have made bateery worse on my SE2020 🤷‍♂️

[–] Rwekre@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (4 children)

Mine’s doing great. Feel free to downvote me like everyone else not supporting your post.

[–] DifferentBag@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I have the Ultra 2 and after 7ish hours I'm at 95%. Didn't have an issue before the update, still don't have an issue. Got lucky I guess?

Before, I could go 24 hours and be at 75%. Haven't paid attention since the update but I'd imagine it's the same, if not better.

On Ultra 2, my battery life has never been better, I'm not some power user but I get a 5-6 days on a single charge. I charged my watch on Tuesday evening and it's currently on 75% battery. It's amazing.

Third party apps are most likely causing this. Still get 48 hrs+ on my 9.

[–] Proud-Tumbleweed1408@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Since doing the update, my battery is draining super fast it went from 100% to 25% in 8 hours of sleep. I have the AWU 1 hour after waking up it went to 10%

Battery health shows 100%

[–] Crimson-Shark@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I am NOT touching the update.. I got my S6 back to a livable charge life after doing 3 hard resets.. it’s no where near the life I had before the lousy update. After 10.1 my watch on a full charge lasted maybe 90 mins.. I can almost get a full work day out of it now.. I’m not tempting fate now…
