Saw this in a YouTube video, it does look like the early renders before dynamic island was released. It only happened for a second though.

The gap is actually part of the screen but for some reason Apple decided to make it pitch black no matter what.

I honestly like it more that way.

I prefer it to look like that. It resembles an "i" for iPhone.
