I finally decided to switch and I got my iPhone yesterday and let me tell you: WOAH.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved my S22U but the smoothness of iOS and just how clean and interactive everything is has no comparison.

There’s still a few things that I think android does better (notifications, I’m looking at you) but overall I am very happy with the switch and I can’t wait to be absorbed by the ecosystem.

I would like to get some of your recommendations for best apps in these categories:

3rd party camera: I like to use advanced features when taking photos so I’m looking for your recommendations

Photo editor: which ones are your top choices? Is Lightroom the best?

Productivity: Notes and reminders app mainly or do you prefer the native apps?

Thank you! :)

Not exactly about this, but have you had any kind of speaker issues on your 15 Pro Max? My earpiece crackles when on specific sounds. This can be reproduced with “Sunroof” on Apple Music or Spotify. The first seconds of it on max value demonstrates perfectly what I am talking about. I just want to know if it’s just me or if everyone has it.

Nice color, and welcome. Whatever you’re trying to do.. first try the native apps.

I always hear the notification management argument but why do you think it's so bad on iOS? It's never been that much different for me between the two OS's.

¿Are you serious? 99% of the apps are the same 😂

It is well known that iOS Apps are more optimized and work much smoother on iPhones compared to Android Phones 🤷‍♂️

Congrats on the downgrade!! Regretting the move I made from S22 to the 15 since the touchscreen is just horrible

[–] zt1001@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

For all those users who are downvoting my vote, I hope you all get the privilege of facing the same touchscreen issues I along with 1000s of of 15 users are facing

The keyboard is going to take time to get used to. 1 month and I’m still finding it hard.

Blackmagic Cam for video. Allows 4K-60 ProRes Log internally. Don’t need to expand to SDD

Adobe Lightroom for photo editing

Welcome to the Dark Side

[–] dohface@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I just recently got darkroom. The thing I like most is that you can make a lifetime purchase vs the damn subscription model. I’m not sure how it compares to Lightroom but just throwing that out there

Welcome! Check out Halide in the App Store, very good camera app.

You'll be back on your S22 (or another Android) inside of 3 months. Tale as old as time for these posts. Once the newness honeymoon period wears off the annoyances you are currently ignoring will become too much and back you go........

I really like Apples reminders app. It can be really powerful once you spend some time on it. Same with the notes app. And I like them bc they integrate so well with other first party apps.

[–] RemotePhilosophy6@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The native notes app is pretty good now I use to use standard notes as a good alternative. You would’ve loved Apollo but you a few months too late.

Can't blame you, Android is great for everything but normal phone use lmao. Once you start using the apps and notice the unoptimized trash they are, you surely miss the boredom of iOS, lack of split screen and trash tier notifications and all.

There's a super useful app on iOS called "When did I...?" (exclusive to iOS btw) in where you can keep track of how often you do stuff. Might sound super stupid but it's extremely useful for me to track things like dentist visits, haircuts, car wash, etc.

You can even set it to remind you when X amount of time went by since the last time you did X.

Just on notifications. Yes iOS is awful with them but what I found when i made the jump is that not every notification is important or needs to be done now. On Android it was feeling like i was checking notifications every time the phone beeps. With iOS notifications you just tend to ignore them or don't threat them as urgent like you do with android. Using an Iphone has in fact made me feel like i don't have to check every time my phone beeps etc or look at each notification as they come in etc. The reason for this I think is because when you pull down control center you are not hit with all the notifications like when you do the pull down from android.

Just my 2 cents anyway

I’d also ask over in r/apple it tends to get more traffic

Domarks and Spark (email).

[–] Doglottgeci@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Damn that's a nice switch, I came from a Note 20 Ultra and miss the S pen lots of times

[–] spar13@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You’ve already been recommended Darkroom for editing.

The notes app is quite powerful.

Take a look at Apples shortcuts app. You can make a lot of things happen and also improve what the action button does. There is an app called Actions that gives shortcuts even more power.

Touching on shortcuts, make use of them with your focus. You can customize notifications depending on your focus and with shortcuts you can toggle that even more specifically.

Almost everything on the phone offers more options if you long press.

Move the “cursor” when typing by dragging the space bar around.

What made you go woah? For me going from 14 pm to s23U was woah

[–] Artitanium@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think just how “simple” and smooth the iOS is and how long the battery lasts. I get it though, when I upgraded to my S22U I also went woah because I had an older Huawei model
