Brock Purdy really saved the 49ers

[–] TheKing490@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Literally. I know there's naysayers on the Niners. But at least the Trey Lance trade is forgotten about right lol

[–] KillermooseD@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I really do love Purdy for it too

I thought he was going to take ownership of the 49ers.

[–] Thel_Odan@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Caleb Williams was about to be in shambles.

[–] Fiendish-DoctorWu@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Cock Sturdy's play has been pretty limp the past few weeks.

I have a feeling he'll go pretty hard again soon

[–] YearoftheCamels@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Don’t be the grinch Brock t’s the giving season

[–] Solid-Confidence-966@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He has some “what in the Carson Wentz” type plays lol, this is a good response though.

[–] L-methionine@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He consistently says the right things, and more often than not does the right things. He just needs to clean it up the rest of the time

[–] karatemanchan37@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Now I don't know about you, but I prefer quarterbacks who are SMART with the ball. Protocol Purdy is a QBINO!

[–] yesrushgenesis2112@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

People who downvote you don’t realize you simply support the GEQBUS. People who support to GEQBUS are America’s most persecuted class.

[–] yaprettymuch52@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

he has to not have the arm strength of a high schooler

[–] mynameiszack@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (11 children)

Just once I want to hear "Honestly I blame everyone else. All my coaches, my o-line, the wide receivers... even the opposing defense. Fucking bullshit."

[–] slimmymcnutty@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

There are some guys who could legit say this and not even be wrong.

[–] BradyReas@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Justin Fields came close earlier this year

[–] unfunnysexface@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

In public you'd have to look to Jeff George but the best quotes are probably lost to time.

In private I'd say Ryan Leaf said that exact thing in the qb room at least once.

[–] bpusef@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I would like to apologize, to ABSOLUTELY NOBODY.

[–] LatestMonkey@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

“Y’all are so trash I’m gonna say your name before I call you trash so you know I’m talking to you.”

[–] bigbear-08@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

“If I see your name on a top 10 list, imma kill somebody”

[–] unseth@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Mr Blame Coaches

[–] Mozicon@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

"Fucking input lag"

[–] rickg@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah there seems to be an unwritten rule that QBs always lead by taking the hit for performance and sometimes it IS them. But when the offense has a team up by something like 34-17 late in the 3rd and the D collapses, that's not on the QB. But there's no single player on D that has to stand up there and say "yeah, we sucked"

Talk is cheap. Stop turning the ball over.

[–] krkonos@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I disagree, keep talking and turning the ball over. At least for another week.

[–] Ortoel@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

As opposed to "I gotta be dumber with the ball. Throw it straight to the opposing linebackers. Maybe just hand it to them and point them to the endzone."

[–] fancyskank@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Maybe he should try that, at least for one week.

[–] deenee2000@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

I think he's smart QB and plays quite well in the given system. Mistake or turnover can happen even with elite QBs.

[–] DCJustSomeone@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Not unless it's Dak apparently lol

[–] RookieRickk@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Mfer got them Burrow in September vibes rn

He's gotta be smarter like jimmy g, who stepped out of the back of the endzone knowing it would negate the pick 6 he was about to throw

[–] slimmymcnutty@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Or the time Kittle fumbled in the playoff game against us and it got returned for a TD. Yet it got wiped away cause Jimmy G throw a pass to the flat directly into the dirt. Just smart Thinkin by him

It's crazy he's been playing well, he's just had like 2 really bad plays in the last couple games that sink the offence

[–] DennisNedrysGhost@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

All coming together for Kirk

[–] QuirkyScorpio29@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I don't know if Kirk would stay healthy in SF given our QB curse under Shanny and him coming off an ACL at 36...

It doesn't make sense

[–] StupidSexyScooter@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I was having a great game… until Jesus made me throw a pick

[–] Specific-Channel7844@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Jags defense is first in turnovers, it willbe an interesting game.

[–] mightbetheyear@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If I'm not mistaken, they are also pretty stout against the run. May all be on Purdy this game

[–] gharr87@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He will commit two more Sunday

[–] invaluableimp@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

“I think I’ve been too smart with the ball. Time to spice it up. Only interceptions now.”

[–] Vinlandism@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

All that to get whooped by jags 🤔

[–] SocialDistanceMedia@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'm totally fine if he isn't smart with the ball the rest of the season, especially in a couple games that are rapidly approaching.

[–] seloun@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Actually it's the other team that takes ownership of your turnovers

[–] hdf0003@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I haven’t followed super closely but didn’t he have a concussion recently that conveniently aligns with when he started playing worse? Feels like the bye week should get him healthy and back to playing well?

[–] L-methionine@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It aligned closer to Trent being injured and the OL folding like wet toilet paper (Deebo being out also doesn’t help).

The concussion was in the second game of the three game skid, though he’s generally played decent over that time period, with just some inopportune mistakes at bad times

[–] QuirkyScorpio29@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Good players don't make excuses. Yes, I believe he was concussed vs the Vikings but he was healthy vs Cincinatti and still had 2 picks..if I am gonna praise him for great plays..gotta keep that energy for the bad

[–] PleasantThoughts@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

...can you wait like a week to do that? We'd really appreciate it

[–] QuirkyScorpio29@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He's gonna check the ball down now until we all get sick of it. We need this win more than you guys do..be charitable

[–] jobenjar@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No better time to start than one week from Sunday.

[–] NinJ4ng@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

this is a good clarification i thought brock purdy had intentions to be very dumb with the ball

[–] SaltyBabySeal@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Even if it isn't your fault, as the QB you take accountability for it. Passer rating includes INTs for a reason. Even if they aren't the QB's fault completely, it doesn't really matter, because accountability is required for success at any level, and when you look at film you'll discover all of the individual breakdowns that lead to a play failing. But when it comes to handling the criticism, this is what leaders do.
