The ability to make stickers from basically any photo, and then use them in iMessage
Apple
A place for Apple news, rumors, and discussions.
The fact you can view WiFi passwords. Goto WiFi and then click the i next to one and when it opens the details click the ******* and it’ll change to the password.
Hold the spacebar to move cursor.
It’s not a big deal but enlarging time, battery, wifi bars, etc by resting a finger on the icon at the top bar.
The auto fill out number code when prompted to enter the code by keyboard.
You can pinch closed on one iOS device to copy and then pinch open to another iOS device to paste, provided they are both signed into the same Apple ID and are within Bluetooth range of each other
Handoff is freaking lit
Back tap. Very useful (mine is double tap for flashlight and triple for a quick note)
copy on iphone paste on ipad/mac and reverse
Reachability which bring your screen halfway down so you can reach the top with one hand.

Spotlight search any app quickly when on your Home Screen swipe down from the middle. I was amazed to watch my friend scroll through pages of apps to find the right one and I asked why he doesn’t just spotlight search. He had no idea.
If you scrolled down somewhere and you touch under the pill or notch. you get instantly to the top
If you hold the shutter button in the camera it will take a video but if you hold the shutter button then slide it left, it’ll take a burst shot.
this is something I just learned today. If you type Happy Diwali in iMessage, the screen goes dark and there is a beautiful splash of fireworks! It’s so cool!!
Is there a way to close all apps at one time in stead of manually swiping them up?
The phone app
Background sound. I use it from time to time when I'm grocery shopping
I enjoy using a lot of the continuity features of the iPhone. For example, copy pasting from one iCloud device to another. Or using my iPhone as a webcam for my Mac, as it really improves the quality when in suboptimal light.
Jailbreaking is a feature that highly intelligent people need to bring to iOS please somebody I'm begging you, stock iOS, and I know I will get downvoted to oblivion, is BORING AS FUCK. Apple should implement it themselves, let the breakers break biiiiiiiitch
Customizable back taps. I always use triple back tap for screenshot and double back tap for reachability.
Shortcuts and Automation
Returning to driving maps is a great idea 👌 thanks!
I just learned you can set a timer to end your media playback. Like. Set a timer - scroll down - end XYZ. We have a sleep timer for YouTube etc built in and most don’t even know about it (including me until 2 days ago)
Press the volume down button to silence ringer. This won’t hang up the incoming call.
I've seen people sit through the whole thing, with their phone vibrating on the table. Sometimes you wanna play possum or can't talk at the moment, hanging up can be seen as impolite.
You can also use volume buttons as a camera shutter.
Putting the current sporting event score you are following in the Dynamic Island (I use 3rd Party app called FotMob for football in UK)
Location based reminders:
If you want to pick something up at the hardware store the next time you are there, or do something at any particular place the next time you happen to be going by that place, in Reminders, you type in what you need, and you can base it on location, and proximity within that location, so if I happen to be driving by the hardware store whether it’s this week, this month or ever again, my Reminders popped up with a reminder to go to that location and do whatever I have in the reminder when I’m within that proximity of that location! I use this all the time
If you have a blind relative, iOS has very deep and configurable accessibility features from Voiceover, Rotor, to typing in braille.
NameDrop.
Find your Apple TV remote with iPhone
You can pull text from pictures and videos
Just recently hosted my sisters baby shower. Left my iPad on the counter for all the guests to choose music while using Guided Access to prevent them from leaving the music app.
It won’t let anyone leave the current app without a passcode. Great for when handing a device to someone that you may not want access to other apps or the Home Screen.
Works on iPhone and iPad
Shortcut app in my opinion is the most useful and under used app on an iPhone.
Don’t know how common knowledge these are but here we go: Telling hey siri call my mom on speaker phone. That way you don’t just have to pick up the phone and I always think about that kid that was trapped in that folded car seats and if maybe he did this he could have also heard the 911 operator. The other one is going to the flash light but holding the flash light button so you can change the brightness of the flashlight
The measure app.
Scrolled too much and want to go back to the top? Just tap the clock on top left!
This one is city specific but if your cities public transport supports express pay then going through gates would be so seamless, just enable express pay and bring your phone near reader and boom paid
I use this feature with my apple watch though makes it easier but iPhone has similar functionality
I am in Sydney in case other sydneysiders reading this and have not enabled express pay yet
Express mode for Transit cards. I want more users (riders and metro systems) to use them.
I’m not sure a lot of people would find this useful, but you can turn on sound recognition and your Iphone will listen to important sounds like doorbell, fire, glass cracking, sirens, etc and notify you immediately (even more useful if you’re wearing Apple Watch as you’ll get the notification to your watch.
This is designed for people with hearing loss but can be useful for anyone if you’re wearing noise cancelling headphones and gaming and someone rings the doorbell or someone is shouting or there is a fire or a siren or your cat or dog is shouting. You will immediately get a notification on your watch.
To make night shift stronger, Acessability—> display —> colour filters: invert colours and drag the bottom slider to the left as much as you like (don’t forget to turn it off when not needed, its not gonna be automatic)
I have the assistive touch and when I doubt tap it, it takes a screenshot.
Oh, I see I have to keep holding the first app. Thanks! Neat tip.
I took photos of my driving liscence, passport, ID and most of the documents that I need and they are buried deep in photos but when I want to find them I just search for them and the photos app will read what’s in the photo and find them for me. Nifty
Shortcuts are handy and closing apps frequently, downloading updates.
When you’re on the keyboard, hold on the bottom left “world” icon. Some keyboard options appear and one of them is to compact the keyboard on the right or left so you can use it with one hand.
honestly sharing wifi w people trying to connect to the same network is awesome, and not to mention the seamless sync between your other devices once you’ve connected to it
Very useful and thank everyone on here BUT coming from an Android is there a close all apps option or something? Honestly it would be so much more convenient if I didn’t have to individually remove them and someone mentioned 2-3 fingers still tedious i fell
Nice try TikTok!
the shortcuts app, with the action button its become more popular but its honestly underrated you can practically automate your entire phone with it.
