I really love wearing my Apple Watch but also think the style of an automatic watch looks better. Would it be silly to wear in both hands ??

I’ve seen folks (doctors and nurses) describe their need to wear both an Apple watch and an analog watch

I wore my fitbit and garmin like that.

[–] techtom10@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They’re both fitness devices 😅

[–] seldum88@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

One for stats and one for status.

[–] Feisty_Pain_6918@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I double wrist. Proposed explanations:

  1. I am testing the theory of relativity. My right moves like lightning and my left like thunder.

  2. In case I'm lost in the woods alone and want to know what time it is but the battery on one dies and also I've forgotten to bring my phone.

  3. It's a test of how courageous people are to point out a fashion faux pax. Congratulations, you have passed the test and are now a member of the American Courage Society.

  4. I'm a time traveller from the future, and the second watch helps me keep track of my original timeline.

  5. One is for AM and one is for PM.

  6. One is for metric time and the other is imperial.

  7. Depending on which way I stand, one watch catches the sunlight and can be reflected on to the other, making me a human sundial in case both batteries die and also I'm alone in the woods and forgot to bring my phone.

  8. To be obnoxious.

[–] lauha@lemmy.one 1 points 2 years ago

I heard this on the internet, but I heard that people in military do that to keep track of two timezones.

[–] Steavee@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I don’t think that’s how sundials work, but I’m not from 1,000 years ago so I can’t say for sure.

TWWWOOOOOOOOOO

I’ll see myself out.

He probably wears the Apple Watch for health/heart monitoring and notifications more than time. Gold is for posturing. IMHO

[–] shiftym21@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

the gold watch could be sentimental to him also

[–] asr05@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yep he wears the Apple Watch for aFib and wears the Rolex because he’s always worn them

[–] Subtlefusillade0324@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

His kids probably monitor him from the apple watch like I do with my parents

[–] BTru@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I think people really need to care less about what other people do or wear when it has 0 effect on your life. If he’s happy and not hurting anyone who really cares

[–] phixional@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

People can happily wear what they want, I will still silently think they look like idiots.

I do think a comment above makes sense though that he is wearing the AW for heart monitoring or some such thing.

Also it’s Ric Flair, I don’t think he cares what we think.

[–] ruinedbyconversation@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yes. Don’t ever be that guy that wears both. It’s the new phone on the belt holder guy.

[–] Tom_A_F@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The Nature Boy can do what he wants.

[–] Galactic-Buzz@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yeah it looks stupid as shit. When you wear a fancy traditional watch (like a Rolex) you can say that it’s because you want to know the time accurately and it’s not just a status symbol. Wear two and it becomes a status symbol

[–] MedicineLongjumping2@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Let's not pretend a Rolex isn't a status symbol and that expensive watches are bought because people need to know the time precisely.

Only people who scuba dive frequently can really get away with that...

[–] Darth_Ender_Ro@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’m wearing two now… an automatic on the left and AWUon the right. AWU never lives my wrist (except charging)

[–] Substantial-Bowl-499@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Look at Nicolas George Hayek (CEO and Chairman of the Board of The Swatch Group )! He wears more than 2 watches. 😉

[–] testiclefrankfurter@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah it's dumb. Wear one watch and make it a good one. Ric Flair gets a pass obviously. OP you surely don't have the charisma of Mr. Flair.

[–] midwestn0c0ast@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

he’s a legend so he definitely gets a pass hahs

[–] Psychedelic1966@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think so lol but I’m not going to tell him that👊

[–] tdiddy247@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Looks silly yes

[–] GojiraApocolypse@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Dude is old af. The black watch is to monitor his health.

[–] KSA-WI_Mouse@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I double watch. I love my analog watches. I see them as not just watches but jewelry.

A few years ago I was in a contest at work the counted steps. I got a smallish fit bit for that purpose.

I finally decided to get an Apple Watch but I can’t part with my nice watches. And the apple watch is really only good for step and fitness tracking if you’re wearing it consistently.

So at work or when I comp it I wear both. When I’m home after work or weekends and not wearing other jewelry I Nair wear the AW.

[–] Arcade1980@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I've thought of doing this, I love watches but don't want to part with a smart watch 😁

[–] SpaceHoppity@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ric Flair is way past caring what people think of him

[–] sensicase@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Looks better than having to on the same wrist…

[–] maroefi@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Biggest downside of an Apple Watch is that you don’t really wear normal watches anymore… he can.

[–] eternalbuzz@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’ll wear my mechanical with my Apple Watch

Since I’ve always worn sport watches on the right (skydive for a living and need altimeter on the left) I’ll go with both but put the AW in theater mode and rotate the screen inward. Still dorky but dgaf

[–] az308gtb@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It looks kind of silly but my heart doctor loves me wearing both because of the health alerts on Apple Watch!

[–] nintendo-mech@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I wore my Apple Watch about 50% of the time. The other time, I’m just wearing my mechanical watches. I have a huge collection of watches and the Apple Watch is not my favorite watch, but it’s great for working and working out. I work from home so it’s easy to get all my notifications when I’m around the house if I step away from my computer.

[–] Real_Establishment56@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I do it too, Apple Watch for the metrics, mechanical because it looks nice and I love the craftsmanship behind it.

Some people might comment on it, I explain it and then they go about their ways again. Don’t care what they think of it actually.

[–] JoinDarkOrder85@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ric Flair still trying to be Ric Flair at his age looks silly.

[–] MyApocalypses@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’ve been double watching for about 3 years now. People get used to seeing you wear both watches and it eventually becomes normal.

[–] Piano_mike_2063@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Well, I get it. One is a real watch and there’s something to that. It feels more sophisticated somehow.

[–] ostiDeCalisse@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You didn't see his ankles!

[–] debhanr@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] bertsesh@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Seen a few people do this. Looks very odd

[–] HatesVanityPlates@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I had a conversation with colleagues along these lines the other day. He loves watches, have a collection, but wears the AppleWatch for the functionality. He joked about wearing several up his arm (but he doesn't).

[–] RiotSloth@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is quite common for people with expensive automatics. I do think it’s looks silly personally; I wore my automatic every day and never removed it until I got my Apple Watch, and now I never wear it.

[–] globroc@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I rock an Ultra on one wrist and one of my mechanicals on the other. Fuck it.
