Just seeing Joe Burrow’s out for the year now and it’s been brutal. How many backup QBs have started games? Is it a NFL modern record?

Aaron Rodgers out for year Kirk Cousins out for year Daniel Jones out for year Deshaun Watson out for year Joe Burrow out for year

Not to mention Justin Fields, Matt Stafford, Kyler Murray, etc. who have been banged up

And Anthony Richardson

[–] Inner_Ad6363@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

My husband and I were just talking about this. It’s quite a shame!

[–] nighthawk252@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ryan Tannehill and Jimmy Garoppolo both also lost their jobs in part due to injury.

[–] 90swasbest@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It is making the season really unwatchable. So much bad play.

Lions with Hooker, Bridgewater, and Goff are looking wealthy.

Its a horrible year for injuries in general. Chubb, Jefferson, Judon, Barkley, Andrews, Jarrett, Milano, Ramsey, Tredavious White, CJGJ, (Trevon) Diggs, Waller, Mike Williams have all had serious or season ending injuries.

According to bard:

“The NFL season with the most total minutes missed due to injury by quarterbacks that were designated as the team's Week 1 starter is the 2020 season. In that season, a total of 4,196 minutes were missed by starting quarterbacks due to injury.”

Thursday night games. More regular season games. Shortened pre-season. All things the NFL did to add $$ but they have increased the injury risk to players including the QB.

[–] CheekyDupe@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Thursday night games should not be a thing. Never should have.

I think, in general, this is kind of a crap year. Don't get me wrong I'm having fun because my team is doing fine, but in general there have just been so many injuries to all positions, down offensive scoring, and a lot more INTs it seems across the board.

[–] MonkeyBrain4666@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Seems like theres more injuries with all these protect the qb rules.

[–] sannomiyanights@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I can't believe none of them were Tua tbh

[–] CabbageStockExchange@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Feels like there’s more injuries and more serious ones as a whole lately.

[–] UpdootDaSnootBoop@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

First time watching the NFL?

[–] Beawake23@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yes it sucks. I love watching talented QB’s

[–] BitternessAndBleach@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Shorts man is also playing with a hurt shoulder.

[–] RaisingEve@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Looks good in those shorts.

[–] Boomhauer_007@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Man it’s crazy, pass attempts are at an all-time high and QBs keep getting hurt, how on earth is this happening?

Im not sure

[–] allergic2URbullshit@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This has been a really bad year when I really try to think about it. The worst that comes to recent memory.

[–] Paraeunoia@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Anthony Richardson. People keep forgetting AR5. If he figures out how to avoid injury next season, watch out.

[–] TBDC88@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ever? No, of course not. It used to be a rarity for a QB to play a season without missing 4+ games, now it's the expectation.

[–] MusicalDeath9991@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

With Watson out, some might consider it the best year for QB injuries ever.

[–] afig24@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Proves that all these pansy roughing the passer calls to protect QBs isn't doing shit but ruining the game.

[–] scotaf@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (7 children)

49s are still using their backup qb from last year too

[–] FireHippie@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

49ers backup got benched by the Raiders, the third string is still starting.

[–] TrappedOnARock@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah it's rough, can't catch a break

The worst year was when my qb went down 💅

[–] juliuspepperwood708@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Don’t forget Jimmy G and Anthony Richardson

[–] JebbAnonymous@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I think Dan Patrick looked it up a week ago on his show. I think (If I remember correctly) that 65 QBs have taken at least one snap, and 60 QBs had at least 1 pass attempt.

Probably not. We've had some pretty crazy years in the past for injuries.

[–] ITGardner@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

BORTLES!!!!

[–] SyncRacket@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I mean look at Mac jones, horrible injury! His head is clearly not fucking working right!

/s

[–] acringecommunist@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Clearly we need more roughing the passer penalties.

[–] Nasty_Tricks69@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

2019 had a lot of QB injuries. Stafford, Ryan, Mahomes, and Brees all missed time. I know there were more but those ones are off the top of my head

[–] potagada@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

As a dolphins fan, absofuckinglutely not

[–] AmethystAlizarin@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If this is what it takes for Washington to have a healthy QB for a season, sign me up

[–] captainjizzpants@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Hey, don't forget Bryce Young, he missed a game with an ankle injury ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

[–] MoMac77@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I was thinking about how these QB protection rules have made QBs feel more secure than they are putting them in dangerous positions.

[–] kpyle@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

After 25 years of a QB carousel broken up only by Baker, nah man. Par for the course.

[–] printergumlight@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

All the safety rules for QB protection and they’re getting hurt more than ever.

[–] mattcojo2@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Probably not but it’s up there. Last year though we had the record for most different QBs to start a game in a given year.

And what’s most telling to me is that despite the NFL doing their best to prevent these kinds of injuries it just hasn’t helped to fix that problem. .

[–] its_k1llsh0t@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

"Ha ha I'm in Danger" - Patrick Mahomes

[–] user20916@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

As a 49ers fan, no. Last year was a nightmare.

[–] CrookGG@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You forgot Anthony Richardson

[–] LeadSledPoodle@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You honestly didn't need to list Daniel Jones.
