Home automation is the residential extension of building automation.

It is automation of the home, housework or household activity.

Home automation may include centralized control of lighting, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), appliances, security locks of gates and doors and other systems, to provide improved convenience, comfort, energy efficiency and security.

ADT Self Setup vs Pro Install (alien.top)

I’ve had ADT for many years. The system panel became outdated and I wanted features like the ability to arm/disarm from my mobile device. I was shocked by the price to upgrade but noticed their new self install system after an email from google. I gave the system a try but ultimately it isn’t quite ready for prime time in my opinion. I’m going to move to ADT pro install with what I believe they call their “command” system. I’ve gotten myself past the cost of the equipment but what has got me puzzled is the monthly monitoring fee. I was paying $19.99 a month on the self install unit as part of the introductory offer ($24.99 regular price) but the pro install system has a $45.99 a month monitoring fee. Isn’t monitoring monitoring? Why the drastic difference in price? I thought maybe because you are paying for the cost of the equipment in your monthly monitoring fee but that isn’t the case here because I’m paying up front. And if I wanted to pay for the equipment over time monthly fee would be even higher. Am I missing something here, why the huge difference for the same service - someone to call the police if the alarm triggers?
