It's not supposed to. You fetch the tree on 21st december and throw it out after christmas on 7th on january

Welp my ol' boomer dad always said no Christmas shit before December, decorations, music, etc.

But my kids asked me to set up the tree in the middle of November. So I figure might as well make them happy.

And as it happened, my dad died of cancer in his 40s so it's not like his Christmas rules did him any good any way.

Whattaya gonna do 🤷‍♂️

We switched to real trees about 8 years ago, and haven't had a cat in one since. They climbed the artifical tree constantly, we wouldn't even have it fully set up and there would be a cat in it. Get a good heavy stand for it.
