Last year the Lions were 1-6 heading into week 9. They went 8-2 the rest of the way. Which team, with a horrible record right now, do you think will finish the season off strong and be a spoiler along the way?

Last year the Dolphins were 8-3 heading into week 13 and then finished off with 5 straight losses, almost missing the playoffs. Which team, with a great record right now, do you think will end the year with a bad streak of losses?

My fear is that my Lions are about to come up against a bunch of bad losses. 5 divisional games (which always can go either way) two of which are against the Vikings who are putting together a streak and getting healthy plus 2 more against the Bears who have a mobile QB that seem to give the Lions D fits. Plus the Cowboys! Maybe its the 30 year Detroit fan in me expecting the worst, but I fear them even losing the division. Its set up too perfectly for us Lions fans to have the proverbial "ball pulled out by Lucy" in week 16-18.

I mean Vikings are on a 5 game win streak and this is the best team we’ve had in awhile. Our OLine and Defense are finally playing great they’ve been our weakness the whole Kirk era

[–] Dark_Vortex18@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Vikings will finish 12-5 after a 1-4 start only losing to the Lions away

I’m extremely biased but the Seahawks have a brutal schedule and I could honestly see them losing most of their remaining games and not get above 500

[–] Draker-X@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Good run: Arizona

Bad run: Buffalo

The Bills and Bengals are already collapsing, and the Texans are already surging.

[–] nmuir28@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Although I am of course biased, I could see us making a late season run and probably not make the playoffs, but at least play spoiler. The rams have honestly played a lot better than their record this season, a bunch of one possession games which could have gone either way, only two truly abysmal showings. With Stafford hopefully healthy the rest of the way and the toughest games on our schedule being seattle this week (who have struggled against us in the McVay era), Cleveland without a QB, the ravens, and the 49ers who could be resting starters week 18, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this team go on a run the rest of the way out

I think Houston wins the AFC South maybe reaches the AFC championship for the first time ever

[–] birdinthird@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bears will have a winning record the rest of the way. Don't ask me why I think this. I simply know it to be true.

[–] reaper527@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

the bills are going to fall apart. they've got some problems they still haven't figured out, and their OC was a scapegoat who's removal won't solve their problems.

more to the point, they're about to have a brutal schedule over the next month or so.

[–] German_Irish_chicken@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Commanders (hopium)

[–] Slice_of_life_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Noooo go Lions!! You’ll stay strong

[–] TauSigmaNova@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bills 65/35 on run/collapse, I could totally see Steelers collapsing even though I think their schedule is easy, I don't think their play/method of victory will be sustainable, same with the Jags. I could see Texans continuing to run hot

[–] Crispynipps@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Collapse is gonna be the Ravens. Not trying to jinx it but I’ve got a weird feeling about Lamar. Playoff run either the Broncos or Vikings.

Denver ⬆️ Dallas ⬇️

[–] LTPRWSG420@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bro the Lions have maybe one of the easiest schedules remaining. I’m not scared of the Vikings at all, Josh Dobbs was even the Lions QB3 a couple years ago behind David Blough on the depth chart, regression is inevitable for him.

[–] Western-Ad-9922@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I could see the Minnesota Vikings going on a deep playoff run. Dobbs has looked good and their defense is much better this year.

As for a collapse I do not see the Browns or Steelers making the playoffs however Burrows injury does complicate things.

Chargers. Not because of anything positive, just because it will create positive vibes among those in charge (and a more naive section of the fan base), and keep us in our cycle of mediocrity.

[–] AOA001@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Texans I feel confident about. Broncos perhaps. Vikings with Dobbs is… scarier than people know.

There’s a lot of decent looking football coming out of Denver the last few weeks. Russ doesn’t even have to necessarily be Superman he just needs to not turn the ball over and make good decisions and I believe they could end up a wild card team.

As for a collapse I say the Bills. I know they’re 5-5 but I’m talking like, tear the team apart and start over type of collapse. The Bills are effectively in the same position as the Falcons after blowing a 28-3 lead. They had the best team they’ve maybe ever had and on last second plays choked. I truly think teams don’t ever recover from that type of loss

[–] jkman61494@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Denver frankly controls their own destiny with their schedule. I could 100% see them sneak in somehow with a 9-8 record based off tiebreakers. And it’d be fun to honestly see them rematch Miami in a 7/2 matchup.

[–] RatedDAL@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Green Bay and Seattle. Just a hunch with GB. If Seattle loses to the Rams who really have their number their next 4 games are SF twice, Dallas, and Philly. Also play Pittsburgh later.

[–] Thatworksfinealready@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Maybe the Jets with Rodgers

[–] nextkevamob2@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’m pretty sure the Vikings are on a rage to get to the playoffs. I would not be surprised if they make it, seems like they are improving steadily.

[–] kamekaze1024@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Ravens collapse. Texans rise (if they don’t count then it’s the raiders or chargers. But the patriots would be hilarious)

If the Commanders didn’t have such a brutal schedule I’d say them.

The way the Steelers schedule shapes up, they’re looking like they’ll finish the same way as last year’s Vikings, 13-4 and then probably lose a freak game in the Wild Card round lol

Buffalo and Cincy are probably both missing the playoffs now, with the Burrow injury and Josh Allen playing like he’s injured, and both teams have brutal schedules. I could see both finish with 10 losses

[–] ShouldersofGiants127@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] Velociman@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ravens and Eagles both have really tough schedules remaining. I dont think either collapses or misses the playoffs but I think both will drop a couple more games than expected the rest of the way and fall to WC spots rather than division winners.

[–] making-flippy-floppy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Strength of remaining schedule for your speculation purposes. Hardest at top left, easiest at bottom right:

Team W-L % Team W-L %
Bengals 42-23 64.6 Jets 38-38 50.0
Raiders 39-26 60.0 Chargers 38-39 49.4
Cardinals 37-27 57.8 Steelers 39-40 49.4
Bills 37-27 57.8 Patriots 32-33 49.2
Ravens 31-23 57.4 Browns 36-38 48.6
Titans 40-33 54.8 Colts 32-34 48.5
Seahawks 40-33 54.8 Chiefs 37-40 48.1
Cowboys 41-34 54.7 Eagles 36-40 47.4
49ers 41-35 53.9 Panthers 35-39 47.3
Bears 35-31 53.0 Lions 36-41 46.8
Broncos 39-36 52.0 Jaguars 35-40 46.7
Commanders 33-31 51.6 Packers 34-41 45.3
Vikings 34-32 51.5 Texans 33-41 44.6
Dolphins 39-38 50.6 Buccaneers 31-44
Rams 39-39 50.0 Falcons 27-40
Giants 33-33 50.0 Saints 25-41

My pick: maybe the Jets can win the AFCE this year? They've got an easier schedule than the Bills and Dolphins, just a question of how much of an anchor Z.Wilson is going to be.

[–] trywagyu@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

they simply do not have the QB play capable of winning the division

I think the Lions fall apart.

[–] Practical-Juice9549@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The chiefs are going to freak me the fu*k out by doing what the normally do: win weirdly… most of the time 😂

[–] Annual-Sympathy-4934@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

IDK how wild this is but the Broncos are making the playoffs. Vikings and Josh Dobbs will still be solid but not good enough to overcome an incomplete team and they will lose more close games

[–] AimbotPotato@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I think there is a very real chance the Vikings steal the NFC north from the lions. I know I’m biased but both teams have piss easy schedules (outside of maybe broncos and bengals for the Vikings) that lead to a super impactful last 3 weeks.

It'd be incredibly on brand for the Bills, after losing to the Jets, Broncos, and Patriots, to beat the Eagles, Chiefs, and Cowboys in succession.

It'd also be very 2023 Bills to also lose to the Patriots again then Miami to miss the playoffs

[–] OstrichTraditional90@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Throw Malik Cunningham in the game and pats might finish 10-8.

Look I just lost Burrow let me live in delusion for a while.

[–] Eravian@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

My history as a Vikings fan makes me expect that we’ll fall apart down the stretch, but how they have played thus far should indicate it’s very possible for them to be 10-4 coming into our matchup against the Lions in Week 16.

It’s hard not to expect a collapse, but I’m ready to be hurt again!

[–] Winterclaw42@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Our last 3 games are against the cowboys, ravens, and bills. It'll be rough.

[–] Sorry-Spite9634@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think the late run candidates are the Bills and Chargers. Seahawks Browns, and Steelers for the collapse.

[–] floppysack182@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Cowboys have to play the eagles, dolphins, bills, lions, and commanders twice. Crazy tough schedule

[–] trashpanda22lax@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] Bluehaze013@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Might sound like a homer but I think Dolphins will get better, we just got a lot of key players back From injury and were able to shut out Chiefs in the second half of our last game. It takes awhile to adjust to a new scheme and our D looked terrible in the first half but figuring it out so quickly I think other teams will adapt to what we did and the Chiefs will start to fall off, they might have the best QB but he still needs weapons to throw the ball to and Kelce is really the biggest threat no-one else stands out to me.

Lions I think they are in this for the long haul, they are motivated more than any other team in the league. I think if you fall off its only against teams with better players and certainly not due to lack of motivation.

Bills are a mess

Eagles are consistent.

Bengals are done without Burrow.

Ravens are the most solid team right now all around.

49'rs hard to get a read on.

Cowboys are Cowboys

IMO it comes down to Eagles Ravens Lions Dolphins with 49'rs in the mix somewhere.

[–] Himathememegod@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It's time for Ron Riveras yearly late season run to give us hope only to suit ourselves and get eliminated while somehow beating Dallas week 18
