Tim’s overall message to Google was “I imagine us as being able to be deep deep partners; deeply connected where our services end and yours begin and sees no natural impediment to us doing more together. Knows there is a past but doesn’t feel encumbered by it and wants to figure out how we work more deeply together. (and share information better - he stressed this a few times)

Apple and Google are already deeply intertwined. Might as well call them "frenemies" rather than direct competitors.

Google and Apple partnership is a match made in heaven. Apple understands that not much work has to be done to get 36% of revenue from Google search . No brainer hear . Who doesn’t want free money with little to no work ?

[–] fooknprawn@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

And yet keep Android and iOS ecosystems far from each other, never to cross paths

[–] hazyPixels@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

How to spell oligopoly?

[–] riffic@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

this seems to be commentary on a decision made in 2018.

[–] m1nhC@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

[–] HolyCookie@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Honestly having Bard and assistant to strengthen Siri seems like a pretty obvious step in integrating the two companies together

[–] dropthemagic@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That's some hard bs but I'm assuming he's mostly referring to Google services like workspace and search.

[–] babybambam@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

and share information better

That's it. He wants all the private data while also touting iPhone as a privacy-centric platform. He wants it both ways.

[–] FriedChicken@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I miss Steve Jobs.

Holy War against Android.

[–] c0mptar2000@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So this means Apple is having a hard time figuring out the AI stuff and they realize they actually DO need all of that user data from Google. Gonna be funny when Apple starts slowly backing off of the privacy marketing shtick.

[–] redditissocoolyoyo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

How deep? Sundar run quickly.

[–] KafkaDatura@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

“PS: but you stay green though.”

[–] EatMoarTendies@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Google CEO: best I can do it touching tips

[–] Expensive_Finger_973@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Tim wants to go deep with Sundar. So deep you can't tell where Tim ends and Sundar begins. In the business sense of course.

I’d imagine Apple wants to make sure there is competition in AI against Microsoft.

[–] DanTheMan827@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Our vision is that we work as if we are one company.

Sounds like antitrust regulators would absolutely love that…

[–] TheStupendusMan@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Gimme an iPhone 4S with updated internals and running Android. I'll buy it in a flash. Legit my dream phone.

[–] NetSurfer156@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

This is such an awkward sentence and I think Tim knew it

[–] ForkPowerOutlet@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
