Guys I’m so sad I’ve only had my macbook for 2 months and I’ve been taking a lot of care of it but it already has a dent somehow, no idea how it even got there. I’ve legit used the headphone jack 2 times and it looks so bad now since it’s a little caved in.

Bro couldn't find the hole and missed

[–] Antgsz@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You should trade it in or get a full refund a small dent on a MacBook is completely unacceptable

[–] ServeIll7171@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Dispose it to me pls, ty in advance

[–] -V3R7IGO-@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Cause of the perspective I thought this was the front edge and not the side so I thought you put a hole in your MacBook 💀

[–] Connect_Tart5240@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Tim knew this would happen so he made sure the m3 is available

[–] TamjaiFanatic@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Eh it doesn’t look that obvious. Just ignore it, the more you think about it the more bothered you become

The dent looks kinda weird. Wonder what caused it? Is the headphone jack sitting straight now when you put it in, or tilted to the left?

But dents can happen with our MacBooks. But I think a dent is better than a cracked plastic body to be honest. My ex-wife dropped my TiBook out of the trunk of my car one day, and I also had to live with a dent in the lower right corner of the chassis. It was pretty annoying but after a while I didn’t even notice it anymore. As long as it’s just cosmetically you will just have to live with it I guess.

[–] adi_188@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah I’m not sure how it even happened, it made me sad for a while so I posted but I guess what’s done is done.

[–] 25_Watt_Bulb@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'm honestly surprised the titanium PowerBook survived a drop like that at all. They fell apart from normal use.

its ruined!

[–] RealityGoneNuts2610k@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Oh boy, maybe if Tim Cook saw this, he's gonna remove the headphone jack for macbooks and use this as one of the reason.

[–] Maclx@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

And then 5 years later re-add it as breakthrough innovation

Are you sure it wasn’t always there? Honestly seems like it could be a factory defect you are just now noticing.

Welcome to the life. Now you can start using it 🤣. My 13” was FULL of dents and scratches before I upgraded. I actually miss having an inch of dents on it. Makes it easier to not worry.

[–] Remote-Link-6424@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I give you $5 for it

[–] xarumitzu@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s trash now, best to give it to me /s

But that sucks. Now that the bandaid is ripped off, the next scratches or dings won’t be as bad.

[–] Elbarto_007@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Best I can do is $5

[–] Dimiguss@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Stuff are meant to by use.

[–] faslane22@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

LOL! Seriously,? I think you'll be ok. You bumped it on something obv and didn't realize. This isn't even noticeable and no one looks at the side anyway especially can't see it much on a darker color either

[–] intelligentrobo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Feel for ya though, a tiny bit of scratch on my devices and my ocd kicks in.

[–] batuckan1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I bought a laptop sleeve soon after buying my mbp

Touch grass please

[–] garcia-a@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is why you need a case for your macbook

[–] Emilyeagleowl@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

My mum always said they are going to get scratched and dinged a bit as they are carried around in bags etc. Same with phones, once the first one happens the next one hurts less.

[–] fledermaus9871@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s always a bummer when it happens. I try to think of them as battle scars—signs your computer is being used rather than as a display piece.

I think the best way to tackle this is psychologically be in peace with it. A full side cover for example or even a sticker, might help. If you don’t see it, you’ll never bother! I did the same to mine.

Same situation. 2 months and I’ve got an annoying little scratch on the thin strip of the screen where you pull the screen up from. I just bought a leather hardcase and voila, it looks good and doesn’t bother me at all!

[–] poptartfish@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Battle scars or return it?

At least it’s near the port so you can barely tell! But I understand the frustration 👌

I accidentally forgot my old MBP it at a friend’s house. When I picked it up, there was a pretty big dent on the top casing. I cannot prove she did something, but it went there without a dent and came back with one. It was the first week I had it 🥲

[–] Snapy1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

My girlfriends rabbit took a bite into my pro the other day and put a little dent in it 😑😑

[–] Brokenlynx7@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bpuggt an M1 Pro then I accidentally put a small scratch on the short vertical side facing towards me after about 2 weeks of use.

Apple make really nice stuff that definitely encourages people to keep it 'pristine' but I'm honestly glad I'm not the kind of person that cares, this will be one of many scratches and nicks the product sees over it's five year life.

Funny thing is I haven't scratched it since and it's been about 18 months since then.

[–] One_Celebration3644@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s too far gone. Pay me $50 to dispose of it for you.

[–] QuintinPro11@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Maybe Tim's cock was in there.

[–] Top-Dinner9131@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Haha do you want to see my MacBook??

[–] danscrafting@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Look..i know we all miss the headphone jacks but this isnt the way

[–] ZFRobertson@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s a thumb groove for easy removal of headphones. 😬

[–] kelev@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I've had some gnarly dents on literally all of my macbooks. Sometimes on the bottom, sometimes on an edge, sometimes by a port... It's gonna happen eventually if you use it like a laptop.

[–] ExtremePast@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Great post.
