Those popcorn and drink uniforms! I’ve been cutting down on my mindless collecting, but I’d totally eat and drink out of those for a month if I could get one.

I know! I hate that I want them...

I only saw the first one in theater, and I was so damn young, all I really remember of the experience is some of the exterior shots. But, considering how young I was, that's still a telling thing about how well it was done.

Those exterior shots really stuck with me as well. I can't imagine growing up with blurry spaceship models viewed on a CRT tv to the giant, sweeping, detailed close up and wide shots we get in that opening shuttle scene. Now people laugh about how long it goes on for but I have to imagine for a lot of fans it was still not long enough!

I decided I'm going to go to one of these but can't decide which!

I forgot about that scene! Must be in the director's cut.

@TheImpressiveX

Yeah, but not Star Trek V because some things are best not remembered 😆

[–] SiliconAvatar@startrek.website 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Didn't you read the press release? It says "classic Star Trek" specifically 😅

[–] Kirk@startrek.website 3 points 6 days ago (2 children)

It's crazy that Star Trek V was once considered the worst Star Trek film but is now universally considered among critics to be the greatest movie of all time.

Hold up now, that's Galaxy quest erasure! 🤣

Um... whut? I think you misspelled either IV or VI there as V (/s:-P).

[–] Kirk@startrek.website 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It's ranked above Citizen Kane now

[–] OpenStars@discuss.online 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Genuinely, why? Bc of the philosophy points raised, I would guess? I mean it's kinda a cool movie, and your namesake definitely is one of the greatest characters (especially the trio of them almost like Id, Superego, and Ego, or Heart, Brain, and Gut or Soul), but one of the best of all time? Wow, that's a lot to wrap my head around.

The bar scene is so original, nothing comes close /s

Imdb gives Star Trek V a whopping 5.5/10. I mean... that's more than a 5, if the scale were out of 5! (and the numerator was not adjusted to match) Likewise, if the denominator were out of any value less than 5, then a 5.5 rating would still be still off the charts!! (/s)

https://www.imdb.com/list/ls049197500/ says that Star Wars 5 (aka Empire) is one of the best movies of all time, ranking alongside Citizen Kane.
