I just checked their website, and while yes, they do have gorgeous cases, I was genuinely mindblown to see their average is between $75 and $120.

I have a high income so it's genuinely not about money, I just don't see how creating a case can be so expensive?

Somehow they sell a lot of cases. Baffling, I know. Funny thing is their cases aren't even that nice IMO.

[–] Wrycalin@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I was willing to pay $23 (they are more expensive in the US, but in Romania they are cheaper) for my brand new Speck clear case, because they are guaranteed to never yellow and they are very protective.

But I would never pay more than $40 for a case.

[–] nolan816@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I may have spent 600 dollars on my phone but anything above 20 for a case is absurd

[–] yigo1337@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

bruh just get a 3 dollar silicone case and youll be fine. i even bought 5 different colours.

[–] thegrayman19@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I payed $65 for my Mous case, hasn’t let me down yet

[–] shelby20_03@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Those cases are over priced and over hyped

[–] snowrespect@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

i spent like $80 before because of the design and protection it offered. when i upgraded almost a year ago i bought another $80 case and it broke twice - the back came away from the sides. so never again.

[–] lucasuperman@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Crazy to think it is the price of a pair of Air Max

[–] Neptune502@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They have a lot of official Collabs with popular Brands and i gonna guess one of the Reason why it is so high are Licensing Fees.

[–] -K9V@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s just a waste of money. Just buy a case off of eBay for a few dollars.

I'm using the ghost case and it looks really prim.

[–] erasmuswill@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

People actually buy cases for their phones?

[–] HungerForHipHop@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I just got one for $50 from BB

[–] lordnothingimportant@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I prefer Casely

[–] YahonMaizosz@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Social status..

All of their cases have big obnoxious “Casetify” on the camera border, perfect for material conscious people to flaunt them.

[–] 80sBaby_82@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’ve bought their cases before because I liked a particular design but they did not use to cost that much! I opted for a Speck case for my 15

[–] wtfmatey88@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I will pay $90 for a Bullstrap leather case because the leather is high quality and they have a fantastic warranty.

Otherwise, I can’t imagine spending that much.

[–] OXRoblox@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yes they do, Casetify is all about brand collabs or Hongkongers supporting a local business, other than that you probably wont find a single soul using them for the purpose of actually protecting their phone

[–] BlueGazeebo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I have 4 of their cases for the iPhone 15. I paid less than $6 for each one lol

[–] nekosama15@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s all marketing and licensing. The cases themselves are pretty average to low quantity.

[–] vMambaaa@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

i paid $70 for my pitaka case because it’s the closest thing to a caseless phone that i’ve found. worth it to me.

[–] osamaali85@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yes mine is

[–] spadePerfect@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Holy shit yes. Thought the same when I checked their site, what the fuck? I won’t pay more than 30-40€ for a case

[–] shaved_banana@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (4 children)

The iPhone accessories market has gone nuts in the last few years. It’s becoming normalised for a completely unremarkable case to cost as much as a budget android phone which is just insane.

People fall for the marketing lines like “military grade” and “the same material used in riot shields” when they are buying at most a couple of dollars worth of plastic/rubber/silicon pressed over an iPhone mould. There are plenty of good cheaper options though so just go for those

I mean, they pay for those overpriced original apple cases, that's more absurd to me

[–] Thumperstruck666@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I was at Best Buy bought a case a few years ago 45 bucks and then went to Thailand it’s going for 2.40 cents the one in Thailand lasted longer

[–] gatorglaze@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Hell no, so many Casetify cases I like but I’m so damn picky with my phone cases. I end up buying Spigen cases and putting decal stickers on them. Rocking a Spigen MagSafe slim case with gengar on the back of it

[–] CDSnipez@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They used to be like $40-60 just a few years ago and I had a couple but now they’re literally nearly $100 for any case and I can’t justify spending $100 on a case that isn’t even that nice and just has a cute design on it

[–] memorable_client@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Those cases are gross! Especially that logo stripe around the camera. Just gross. Aesthetic cancer.

[–] galaxyd1ngo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I did reluctantly buy one for my 15 pro despite the price increase after having them for my 12 pro. My issue is that I want magsafe AND a cool, fun design and I couldn’t find anything else

[–] MrsBenSolo1977@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s the best, most protective case I’ve ever purchased and I’m protecting a $1300 device and the most expensive case I see on the site is $90.

[–] InfiniteHench@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

People will pay incredible amounts of money for fashion and statements.

See: fashion. Video game cosmetics. Houses.

Simple as that.

Yes.

If I've learned anything, you can sell anything at any price as long as you know your market, your demographic, and know how to bullshit.

[–] chorong761@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Not sure about others, but at least I do for all my phones

[–] Charles_Mendel@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Wow didn’t know they were that much.

[–] SigmaLance@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I went with Nomad’s Rugged case for $35 and have zero regrets.

[–] squintybeef@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Paid 30 for my tech21 a few years back.

Drop my phone frequently, and it is Gucci still

[–] bertmclinfbi@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

People who spend this much on phone cases are the same people who have either never heard of aliexpress or if they have, they don’t know how to use it.

[–] Taitonymous@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I love their designs, but I also don’t see spending that much on a case. I bought a mous case for 55€ and that is about the highest I will go.

I also haven’t heard good things about their shipping times and support. When spending so much for a case I would expect it to be delivered fast and to get a quick and helpful answer when a problem arises, I don’t think you will get that service with Casetify.

[–] mehdifromthe6@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Don't know neither.

A Spigen at $12 from Amazon is more than enough.

[–] pangsiu@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I bought a One Piece collaboration with the soft corners. I love it. In the end of the day that’s still cheaper than paying for Apple Care

[–] repeatrep@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

i never looked into casetify due to me finding the branding around the camera to be ugly as hell, but i did check it when i saw the Evangelion collaboration.

the prices are fucking insane. i always thought that this brand is so big because they made cheap colourful cases with the consumer’s favourite brand on it

[–] littlebutcute@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I used to have one, but I got it in a good Black Friday deal for $40. My laptop case is still going strong.

[–] New_Significance1411@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is why I buy ₹300-400 cases (4-6 USD). They serve 90% of the purpose of 60 USD cases and if I spend around ₹1000-1200 (12-14USD) then I get exact same quality as the 80-100 USD cases.

Idk why but these companies really do rip off Americans in the name of their beloved iPhone.

[–] oceanwave4444@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I paid $65 for my Carved case... but they hold up really fucking well and I love the uniqueness of the wood slices. My old one lasted the entire lifespan of my Iphone 11 Pro (just upgraded this year)

[–] dhrandy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You bought an expensive phone and you’re worried about an expensive case?

[–] Shiftylee@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It is the exclusivity that matters. I want people to know I have the means to afford a Casetify case.

jk, I’ve never heard of that brand. I don’t even use a case.

[–] daaaaaaaaamndaniel@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Holy crap I was reading this thread last night, and now it turns out Casetify is getting completely roasted on Twitter for stealing a ton of designs lol
