lol. You’re playing a game. Grow up.

[–] Dinnermaster@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I don’t blame him one but. Football is incredibly emotional and these fans are just complete jackasses. Gotta contain yourself, but he’s human too, it’s normal to get pissed off

[–] TheFencingCoach@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

People are entitled to their feelings. They are not entitled to their actions.

[–] on-the-cheeseburgers@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Do you think this is the first NFL game in history in which a fan has heckled an opposing player?

[–] BaltimoreBadger23@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

There's no way for a player to "win" that situation. Best off just staying away and asking for team security to handle it if it's truly out of bounds. I have no doubt that what was said would have warranted a beating if said to his face on the street (not advocating for that, just pointing out the protection fans have by being in a stadium vs saying it to a dude on the street).

[–] jawntist@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Ah yes, words should definitely be met by physical harm, great take there.

[–] BaltimoreBadger23@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

"not advocating for that"

[–] Whaty0urname@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

100%. I'm pretty sure, regardless of the stadium, if a player says "Hey that guy right there said XYZ, please have him removed." That would be the end of it. It's not like players are used to insults being hurled at them so we have to know it was something terrible.

[–] aqua_seafoam@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah. I hate the whole "well they're athletes and emotions are high".

Bitch there was coke on the sales floor where I worked, kegs, and aggressive growth goals. I ain't shoving anyone.

[–] Quirky-Lawyer-3409@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (5 children)

This is one of those things that should be zero tolerance. Fine every time and probably a suspension. There can't be any leniency on approaching and pushing a fan. Same way fans can be banned for throwing things at or dumping beers on players.

[–] ktbsquared@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Agreed. Putting hands on someone for talking trash is going to get you fired at most places of employment. You just can’t go around doing that no matter how obnoxious the other person is.

[–] Whaty0urname@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Hard agree. Idk if the "fan" is calling you the most racist, hateful, inappropriate things. Security needed to be alerted and the fan kicked out. And it's honestly the better response from the player like "I don't even care about you at all, but you're getting kicked out for life."

[–] pickleparty16@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

davante adams shoved a random boom mic guy and the league didnt do anything

[–] BeatlesRays@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’d argue there’s a clear difference between going out of your way to approach a fan in the stands to shove him and pushing over a boom operator who you saw one second prior and pushed as he was in your way. Obviously Adams shouldn’t have pushed over the boom guy, but it seems like much more a spur of the moment frustration done to someone working for the NFL, as opposed to going out of your way to shove a paying fan who is in the stands.

[–] FergieMac@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I’m generally in agreement, but I think since it was an eagles fan we can all agree to let this one slide.

Shit happens. Hopefully no suspensions or fines come from this

[–] Infinite_Mind7894@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No.

Example needs to be made. Professional athletes should NEVER go near opposing fans during a game. That's just common sense. Beyond that, pros shouldn't engage any random normal person. There's no challenge there, especially when they're padded up. Don't make this normal behavior. There's enough of that shit in the world already.

[–] ktbsquared@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Why? What a baffling comment. You think it’s okay for players to be violent with fans for talking shit? By doing nothing the league would basically be saying it’s open season on fans. I hope he is punished. Most of us in this thread would be out on our ass jobless if we pulled this at work. He’s a person just like us and should face the same consequences just like us.

[–] Particular-Ad-4772@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

You can’t let the fans get in your head . No matter what they are saying .

[–] Doobie_Howitzer@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They're not there to quiet the crowd they're there to prevent physical altercations

[–] EmpiricalAnarchism@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If he were on the Jets I’d be okay with it but since he’s on the bills, SUSPEND HIM!!!

[–] Few-Replacement5525@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I wish fans would have to sign waivers and these leagues would just let them fight it out.

[–] saanis@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

My favorite comeback at a heckling fan was when a fan was screaming stuff at former Bengals punter Kevin Huber, and Huber (the heckler had one of those circle goatees) told him "Nice dick target!"

[–] aqua_seafoam@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

10/10 reply

[–] Ven505@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Considering how emotional (and roided up) a lot of players are, I’m surprised there hasn’t been a malice in the palace-type event in football yet

[–] Numerous-Ad6460@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

That fan better show up in a wheelchair and a neck brace for the next game lol

Wait. Unruly fans in Philly? I am absolutely shocked here!!! 🙄

[–] chingy1337@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Not good not good.

[–] tbarron7@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Luckilly for the Bills, it was a horse collar push, so absolutely no consequences are warranted.

[–] athrowawayiguesslol@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (4 children)

Is there precedence for this? The shove really wasn’t that much but I’m curious if there’s an nfl policy about it

[–] Autobot-N@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

IIRC Davante Adams shoved a guy last year but it was an employee, not a fan

Fuck around and file a lawsuit when you find out

[–] Beahner@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (10 children)

“Appears” to shove.

Just saying it wasn’t clear that he made contact with the fan. If there is another angle that the league can see that shows it he needs to be sat down a bit. That’s a no doubter.

But all I see is the fan jump back a little. Could be contact. Could just be a flinch from Phillips and the fan stepping back. Can’t say for sure.

As a lawsuit goes (if there was contact)…meh. Stupid. Player should never make contact. Let league handle. Fan was clearly instigating. As a lawsuit goes, just meh.

[–] ReggieCousins@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Right, it clearly wasnt meant to cause injury and no one was hurt. Slap on the wrist. Emotions got the better of them in a tight game. Not cool but not a big deal.

[–] Beahner@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Exactly. I don’t know if many Eagles fans will say it, but I will. That guy might have been being an absolute asshole.

Best overall would be to ignore, but I have no issue going and jawing. If that was indeed contact that’s the line as far as the league goes.

It will be absolutely litigious. It just shouldn’t be.

[–] Mionux@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

And the lawsuit filing is going to video review. We may need Gene on this one

Absolutely brutal look for Lawson.

  1. You can do that.

  2. You didn’t even get the fan to back down. 😂

[–] callmecyke@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You can't win against Eagles fans. They'll just keep shouting GO BIRDS until you get pissed and walk away and then you've lost an argument to the real life version of the Gang.

BOOOOOOOOSSAAAAAAAA BOOOOOOOOSSSSAAAA

[–] UAS-hitpoist@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Philly fans are more effective at holding back DEs than our O-Line. Feels bad man.

[–] MrBigPenisUSA@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Philly fans are all Randy Marsh. And we didn't hear no bell.

Have you encountered an Eagles fan? Who could blame him

[–] PasGuy55@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Your division rival Vikings fans will have plenty of nice stories about their visit in the 2017 NFCCG.
