Disembowelment for golfing?!? Like cut your guts and let them hang out of you - for golfing?!?! If they are going to sell the golf course, that's fine but don't cut me!

[–] trucy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 54 points 2 years ago (1 children)

If you golf you deserve it tbh

Most people feel a bit attacked when disemboweled, I imagine

[–] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Not as much as the attack on biodiversity that golf courses create.

Or you, when people tell you that you look like you.

[–] mathemachristian@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago

Name yourself GolfGuyBallWhacker and join the war on lawns in the side of the environment.

It's the first step of the recipe to cook and eat the rich

[–] Chakravanti@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 years ago

Yup. I just ate breakfast but I'm still this kind of hungry.

[–] cumming_normi@yiffit.net 40 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Finally, that tired excuse of a sport has no reason to exist

[–] machinaeZER0@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago

Reject golf, embrace disc golf (ideally in a naturally wooded area with minimal deforestation)

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago

What else are we supposed to do? Humans are running out of creative ways to advance our destructive powers as is, think of all the negative ecological & sociological effects, the senseless overconsumption, the shitty superiority complex apparently necessary to play, etc.

I too sometimes forget they call it a sport, there must be a funny story behind that as it's obviously ironical.

[–] rtxn@lemmy.world 26 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Yay, more high-rises to half-build and abandon!

[–] Doorbook@lemmy.world 48 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Complained the countries that have housing crisis.

I rather a place were growing population get to live comfortably over an empty space for rich people to kick a ball around.

[–] rtxn@lemmy.world 15 points 2 years ago

I have no love for golf courses, but also no faith in the Chinese economy to actually deliver on this (obviously satirical) proposal.

Watch this video. Those massive half-built apartment complexes are not meant for people to live in, they're investments to own ~~by the kind permission of pooh bear~~. They're basically treated like NFTs that occupy real space and never get finished because there is no profit in making them livable once they have an owner.

[–] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago

You don't kick a golf ball, typically.

[–] prime_number_314159@lemmy.world 13 points 2 years ago (1 children)

This is public housing, meaning the funding is coming from the government. They'll be lucky if it gets as far as quarter built.

[–] conneru64@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 2 years ago (1 children)

China's government is actually pretty good at getting things done

[–] kay@lemmings.world 16 points 2 years ago

unfortunately for a lot of minorities

[–] trucy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 2 years ago

The goal is to also get rid of r🤮ch people

[–] squiblet@kbin.social 15 points 2 years ago

Great! When can we start?

[–] statues_lasers@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago

Oh no think about golf cart drivers.

[–] jonsnothere@beehaw.org 9 points 2 years ago

I'm gonna read that as 'disemballed', which just means they lose all their golf ballls

[–] niktemadur@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

Finally, AI starting to have that "only a human could have come up with something this random" Turing Test feel to it.

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

i dont see the problem of having one course available for not-rich people to use and play the sport. are they really THAT wasteful?

[–] belated_frog_pants@beehaw.org 19 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It takes a ton of land and resources for something that's only sold to the elite.

If we had far less and made them community accessible and not require the lawns that golf does, it would be better.

Frizbee golf is a good example. Yes its not the same but its in a lot of public parks, doesnt destroy the landscape to build it, and the maint is low

[–] runner_g@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 years ago

#nationalizegolfcourses

[–] konej@pawb.social 1 points 2 years ago

just play mini golf it's like regular golf but not boring as fuck (and more environmentally friendly)

[–] key@lemmy.keychat.org 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

What happens if you're just caught on a driving range?

[–] belated_frog_pants@beehaw.org 5 points 2 years ago

They just practice killing you

[–] kersploosh@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 years ago (4 children)

That author has the best name for a fake ID I've ever seen.

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago

Aka Lamfiii

[–] NekoRogue@slrpnk.net 1 points 2 years ago

That's definitely Roger from American Dad.

[–] princessnorah@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 years ago

Definitely seems like the name of someone who coined the term “golfercide” because he’s worried about having his own head lopped off.

[–] phorq@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

It was either that or Mohammed

[–] dean@beehaw.org 1 points 1 year ago

does anyone else think disemboweled is a very grotesque word for what they're describing
