It's nearly time for lights out!

Will Lewis be able to fend of Max? Can the McLarens move forward? Will the Alfas manage to stay high up the order, and can Danny Ric score points on his return to Formula 1?

Alpine having a nightmare.

Zhou bowling! Strike!

[–] Sentau@lemmy.one 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Piastri is so impressive. One to watch out for. McLaren can let Lando go and still have a top driver now

[–] stokholm@feddit.dk 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

What happened regarding the first pit stop though? Piastri's stop was faster than Norris', but this Norris managed to undercut him. Are they on different strategies?

[–] hrpanjwani@reddthat.com 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Undercutting your own teammate is bound to raise questions. Hopefully we get answers after the race.

[–] stokholm@feddit.dk 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Also a slow stop for Piastri. He's being robbed of a podium for a second time.

[–] datendefekt@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

Afterwards he was pretty off the pace He was consistently slower than Noris. At first I thought he just had slow targets, maybe he had tire management issues, I have no idea.

[–] Sentau@lemmy.one 6 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Does piastri have some sort of damage. His pace has dropped like a stone in the 2nd and 3rd stint

[–] hrpanjwani@reddthat.com 6 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Emotional damage from his teammate getting the preferred pitstop?

Update: Apparently there was a broken floor issue. Don’t know how, didn’t see him make any contacts. PIA better hope he does not inherit HUL luck.

[–] Sentau@lemmy.one 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Yeah he went from matching Lando to becoming 7 tenths slower. Only damage can explain that.

Don’t know how, didn’t see him make any contacts

Must have been like Hamilton in austria in 2021 where the his wing was damaged due to a kerb. Considering how low the floors are, he must hit the kerb at the chicane

[–] hrpanjwani@reddthat.com 6 points 2 years ago

Very big gains and losses on lap 1. Good for Ferrari and McLaren, mixed bag for Merc, Alfa and Alpine the big losers.

[–] hrpanjwani@reddthat.com 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

How much damage is RIC carrying? Been at the bottom since the lap 1 incident.

[–] lps2@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It's also his first race back in a car that has done poorly all season

[–] hagelslager@feddit.nl 4 points 2 years ago

Alpine... sheesh.

[–] hrpanjwani@reddthat.com 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Fucking Ferrari! The car is shit, the strategists are shittier and now the drivers are fucking up.

Why am I supporting this team?

[–] hagelslager@feddit.nl 2 points 2 years ago

Well, masochism is a thing. So, whatever floats your boat. ;-)

[–] hrpanjwani@reddthat.com 3 points 2 years ago

SAI getting ahead of LEC in the most Ferrari way possible.

NOR undercutting PIA is going to raise some eyebrows.

[–] hrpanjwani@reddthat.com 3 points 2 years ago

Ferrari strategists having another brain fart. Car with potentially faster tyres is stuck behind his teammate:

[–] hagelslager@feddit.nl 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I just laughed because I noticed Verstappen could pit again and still get back on track in first position.

[–] JCPhoenix@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

33 seconds ahead. 33 seconds. Scary.

[–] Sentau@lemmy.one 2 points 2 years ago

He's missing his old number

[–] hagelslager@feddit.nl 3 points 2 years ago

Ferrari's resident strategist Sainz at it again.

[–] hagelslager@feddit.nl 3 points 2 years ago

RB 1.9s pit stop?

[–] running_squirrel@feddit.de 3 points 2 years ago

Leclerc, c'mon. You don't have to make it even harder

[–] JCPhoenix@beehaw.org 3 points 2 years ago

Oh wow both Alpines out in the first lap. Yikes.

Zhou into Riccardo and then Riccardo into an Alpine, and then into another Alpine.

[–] Plaid_Kaleidoscope@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (3 children)

I missed the first 5 laps, wtf happened?

[–] omgarm@feddit.nl 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Zhou got a late start and went bowling instead.

[–] Plaid_Kaleidoscope@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

I just watched the clip... Crazy. Alpine has the worst fucking luck this season.

[–] mannycalavera@feddit.uk 3 points 2 years ago

They swapped straight to the podium positions and started the circular procession.

Zhou had the worst start possible, ending 4 promising races. Lewis also got caught out.

What a quick end to a lot of potential fun :(

[–] _ed@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Hoping to see a clean first lap. Would be great to see Norris get a good start even for a few laps.

[–] _ed@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 years ago

Ooh how long has there been a sort by new / chat button?

[–] JCPhoenix@beehaw.org 3 points 2 years ago

Max and Lewis take each other out and then McLaren 1-2.

[–] hrpanjwani@reddthat.com 2 points 2 years ago

Did HAM get wheelspin? Yesterday they were saying the side Max was on would be dusty and would have relatively worse start.

[–] Sentau@lemmy.one 2 points 2 years ago

Wow potential fireworks at McLaren

[–] hrpanjwani@reddthat.com 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

HAM defending PER might give us a McLaren double podium.

Thats rough going for them

[–] itsmikeyd@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

Nooo Lewis!

[–] hrpanjwani@reddthat.com 1 points 2 years ago

TSU looks like he will be best of the rest again today. Most of it was keeping it clean while others stumbled.

[–] hagelslager@feddit.nl 1 points 2 years ago

What an oddly slow start for the front group.

[–] hrpanjwani@reddthat.com 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

If a race ever needed a safety car to spice things up, it’s this one. Where are you Maldonado?

[–] quintinza@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Zhou tried his best.

[–] brittleback@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Ferrari self destructing again?

Max v Lewis still spicy as ever

[–] reddit_sux@iusearchlinux.fyi 1 points 2 years ago

That mercedes looked like it was carrying at least 10 kg more fuel in the beginning than the rest. Was slow to get to the pace, was slow in turning. Looked a hefty beast rather than a nimble car.
